FOOD + FARM = FUN

Glynwood FFD 6.9

Last year we amplified our annual Open House to include more fun, food and music than previously known. We even changed the name! This year, Food + Farm Day will take place on Saturday, July 16, followed by our first-ever Burger Night as the July Farm Dinner. Join us for daytime festivities, with the option to stay that evening for an al fresco meal. Longtime Glynwood CSA member Shelley Boris, Creative Director and Executive Chef of Fresh Company, is our guest chef.

What to expect at Food + Farm Day will be revealed over the coming weeks. We guarantee a fun, communal day of activities for the whole family that demonstrate, first-hand, regenerative agriculture and our work on behalf of the Hudson Valley's regional food system.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children 5-12; free for children under 5. Separate tickets are required for Burger Night.

Vegetable Production Manager Jarret Nelson will provide a quick introduction to the labor-intensive techniques that are particular to controlling weeds in an organic system.

Additional Dirt Days are scheduled for July 17, September 25 and October 10. For more information, contact Jarret directly.

Promoting Artists, Preserving Farmland: Installation Tour, Talk & Farm-to-Table Lunch

ReInstitute

Glynwood is honored to be the beneficiary of Art Hudson/Farm to Frame, a special luncheon on Saturday, July 9, hosted by The Re Institute in Millerton, NY. Programmed in tandem with two gallery exhibits at its 2,000 square-foot space in a renovated hay loft at Sky Farm, the event features a talk with participating artists and formal lunch catered by The Farmer's Wife. The day continues with a guided, pre-opening tour of The Wassaic Project's 2016 exhibition, featuring multidisciplinary work by more than 100 artists-in-residence. Fifty percent of each ticket price is a a tax-deductible donation to support our nonprofit mission and programs.

Tour Glynwood!

Guided Tours take place on the last Saturday of the month (except for July), originating at 2pm at our Farm Store.

Our next Family Farm Tour is Thursday, June 16, at 3:45pm. Tours are led by children's educator Barbara Sarbin of Something Good in the World, a nonprofit that specializes in farm-based education for school-aged children.

Advance ticket purchase is required for guided tours, which are approximately 1 hour in duration (a little longer with children) and on foot.

Free Self-Guided Tours are possible when our Farm Store is open (Tuesdays & Fridays, 3-6pm; Saturdays, 9am-1pm), where complimentary annotated maps are available. More information on visiting Glynwood is available on our website.

COMMUNITY

More Artsy Food

Dia Art Foundation has commissioned artist Isabel Lewis to realize her signature "occasions" over four consecutive weekends between June 24 and July 17, including Saturdays and Sundays at Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park in Beacon, NY. The events, intended to stimulate the senses, include food, for which we have donated our USDA Certified Organic produce for preparation by Homespun Foods. Free and open to the public, but reservations are recommended.

Vendor Applications for Battery Fair

The Battery Conservancy in downtown New York City is seeking vendor applications for its first-ever Midsummer Fair at the Battery on June 25 and 26, a public market celebrating our region's biodiversity and emerging food and plant producers. There is no fee to participate. More information is available at Battery Fair's website.

RULES OF THE ROAD

A quick reminder that we are a working farm with daily agricultural operations that continue regardless of guests on the property. We ask that visitors are mindful of farmers at work, tractors on the move and all animals on the property. For everyone’s safety, please adhere to our STRICT 20 MPH speed limit on Glynwood Road, parts of which are one-way only. Farming vehicles and incoming cars always have the right of way.
