Finland Bound
Steve Host, Director of Junior Competitive Tennis & wife Sal, Advantage-Pro Shop Manager, and family are Finland bound. Steve has taken an international tennis position with the Finland Tennis Federation. This is a phenomenal opportunity for Steve and family and we wish them success.
On Steve’s watch as leader of the Satellite Academy & TTP—Tournament Training Program, players won four national junior championships and numerous USTA junior tournaments as well top high school state titles and top finishes. Additionally, Steve and staff guided players to college tennis programs, many of whom received tennis scholarships or related financial aid.
Steve taught tennis in nine different countries, coached ATP and WTA professional players, and developed South African national junior champions so this opportunity on the international tennis scene, while a still surprise, was not unexpected.
Steve’s last day is July 30, Sal’s July 20. Michael “Alabama” Thompson, PTR, will be the person in charge right now of the junior competitive program.

Gram Slam Big Hit
An impressive 24 true blue tennis grandmothers and others, most north of 65, played the Gram Slam. They survived drills, point play tips and lots of doubles action under the eyes of Mike Woody and Sharon Cleland. Grand Slam was the brainchild of Carol Gassel, who happens to be Mike Woody’s mom. “The ladies loved the tennis and the hospitality; more will be coming next year,” said Carol. |
