Loizos Pafitis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1986. studied Jazz guitar at the Ionian University of Corfu and holds a masters degree in guitar performance from Leeds College of Music. He has been active on the Greek music scene since his university years playing with George Kontrafouris organ trio, the “ Baby Trio”, with the funk group “Orchestra Sonora”, and with many Jazz greats like Olivier Temime, Ann Paceo, Tim Libby, Gary Maine and Mariano Abello, Vasilis Rakopoulos, Andreas Polyzogopoulos and Dimos Demetriades.
Some of the highlights of his career so far include performances at major festivals in Cyprus (Faneromeni 2016, 2nd Rialto Jazz and world music, Kypria 2017) and tours in England, Greece and Geneva as a member of the blues band “Zilla Project”. Loizos has performed at Aglajazz festival (2017), Fegaros Festival(2017) Nicosia Music festival(2017), 4th Cyprus Jazz Showcase(2017), My unique Jazz Festival in Berlin Germany (2018).
Other projects in which he is involved include the dynamic rock trio “The Low Spark” and “Belua” an underground rock quartet.
Loizos has also been a member of Jazz Education abroad “JEA”, and, having returned to Cyprus full time in 2014, has been teaching as faculty at European University in Nicosia.
