Born in French Belgium...

...Gabrielle grew up in a musical environment and began singing at a young age. Following success in local and national singing competitions, she reached the final of the French “Pop Idol” in 2003. Along with the other finalists Gabrielle signed to BMG Sony France and the resulting album went double gold.

Gabrielle Ducomble quote3

After hearing singer Dee Dee Bridgewater’s album 'Dear Ella', Gabrielle was inspired to discover the world of jazz. She moved to London to immerse herself in the music, graduating in 2009 with a Master in vocal jazz performance from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Gabrielle quickly distinguished herself as a technically brilliant singer and a promising songwriter in a variety of styles, from bossa nova to swing to French chansons. She particularly enjoys giving the classic French chanson and tango repertoire a fresh, modern jazz spin, including well-known songs by the likes of Edith Piaf (“La Vie en Rose”, “No Regrets”), Michel Legrand (“What are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life?”), Jacques Brel (“Ne Me Quitte Pas”), and Astor Piazzolla (“Libertango”, “Oblivion”).

Gabrielle is currently in the studio working on her third album, 'Across the Bridge' - a collection of 12 of Gabrielle's original songs with a September 2018 release date planned. Her London ensemble, 'The Gabrielle Ducomble Band' features Nicolas Meier on guitar, Richard Jones on violin, Nick Kacal on double bass and Saleem Raman on drums.

In collaboration with Meier, Gabrielle wrote many of the unique jazz arrangements of well-known French songs that appear on her albums 'J’ai Deux Amours' (2011) and 'Notes from Paris' (2014). Additional notable career highlights include performing at the EFG London Jazz Festival (2015 & 2017); the Royal Festival Hall with Aurora Orchestra; and Cheltenham Int'l Jazz Festival in 2017.
