We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray your week has been spectacular! Every week I look forward to reaching out to you all with what God has laid on my heart. Each week I am amazed at what God has for us."

"This week, the Word is “RECIPE.” God’s Word is our “recipe,” in a sense. Do you have any favorite “recipes” from maybe your mom or grandma? If it is anything like mine, you can tell the “recipe” has been used over and over again. We use a “recipe” to follow in order to achieve the best outcome. Just like God’s Word is our “recipe” to follow to have the best outcome, which is eternal life with Him! Oh, what a blessed time that will be! God’s Word is our spiritual “recipe” to instruct us how to live each day. Does our Bible look like one of our old “recipes” that we follow to achieve the best outcome? Honestly, I need to do a better job at using God’s Word every day. The picture here is of my dad’s Bible. I cherish it. He definitely used his bible as his “recipe” for eternal life with God. He is reaping the benefits of following God’s Word. I love reading all the wonderful nuggets in the margins he left for me to see. Just like God left His nuggets in the Bible for us to follow. Let’s get out our “recipe” book everyday and use it over and over again until His Word is instilled in our hearts."

The Eternal Word - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. ~ John 1:1-5 (NKJV)

Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service ~ Thursday, April 1 from 7-8pm

The Service of Tenebrae: Tenebrae is the Latin term for "shadows" and is a Holy Week tradition dating far back into the history of the Christian Church. It is characterized by the twelve disciples at the Last Supper, each one reading a brief passage by candlelight. The gradual loss of light is symbolic of the flight of the disciples. The moment of total darkness recalls the days Jesus spent in the tomb. This moving tradition prepares us to break out on Easter morn with great joy.

News of the Week

We had a happy visit from Kelly at the end of last week! We love it when friends visit...thanks Kelly!!

This week we've spent more time dealing with the clean up of old rubbish outside. It seems to be a never ending task! Now that we have some seeds planted, we have also gotten to add watering back into our daily routine. We are all excited to see buds popping out as spring approaches. Besides working, we also do take time for some laid-back activities, like jigsaw puzzles. We finished our lighthouse puzzle this week. Before we know it, the growing season will be here and our puzzles will have to wait until next winter.

In other exciting news, we had two people contact us about volunteering! The first one, Kathleen, came for a wonderful visit on Wednesday and we look forward to her return next week! (Thanks, Kathleen!) What a great feeling when community members hear about us and reach out to be a part of our GG family!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
