Hi Member,

If you only have time to read one thing in our eNews this week, then read our blog post explaining a brilliant concept that I came across on the Animal Emergency Centre (AEC) Instagram feed - It's ok if you're not ok - Mood Board. It's essentially a Board where team members can stick an emoji that most matches their mood, and it can also be changed throughout their shift. The team at AEC kindly answered a few questions about how the process works and to me, the most telling thing is that they've been using it for nearly 3 years! I love this quote from AEC Relationships Manager, Amy Noonan:

"There's something very powerful about acknowledging how you're REALLY feeling and being able to allocate a little picture to that. Often that’s all you need to get a little pick me up, but if we notice a teammate has placed one of the challenging emojis up, then we make sure to check in with them, or make them a cup of tea etc.
It's by no means a solution to workplace stress, but we do find it has helped us all."

You'll also find a variety of CPD events to check out along with the 3rd in our guest blog post series from Dr Diederik Gelderman on how to make your team great again - Trust is an essential ingredient.

Our aim has always been to help you...

It's time to change up those boring interview questions...

Ask a recruiter: Out of the box questions to ask in a job interview (HRM)

Eight recruitment specialists share their favourite interview questions - you may not like them all but you could always try introducing one new question each time you're interviewing for a new position...

1. What will you do if you don’t get this role?
2. If you put forward a strong recommendation on a business-critical decision and it was turned down by one of your colleagues, how would you handle this?
3. Can you tell me how you are working to overcome a shortcoming?
4. If we were to ask your best friend to describe you in three words, what do you think they would say?
5. Tell me about a time when you disagreed with a colleague or manager about an issue you felt strongly about. What was the issue and how did you go about resolving it?
6. Describe the work environment or culture in which you are most productive and happy? What makes you feel good in that environment and can you describe this with a concrete example?
7. If you could design your own working week, how would you structure your days?
8. Tell me about a time in your current role where you felt you didn’t receive enough flexibility and what you would have liked your employer to do differently?
