Hi High Plains Emmaus Community,
I pray that this letter finds each of you well.
I want to thank Central Baptist Church, Clovis, NM for allowing us to have our June gathering there. We had approximate 90 people attend. We were blessed to have Sherry Best give us an awesome 4th day. She and Max have both been a blessing to this community pretty much from day 1 and continue to bless us. I know those of you who were unable to join us physically where there through pray and I thank you for those and the continued prayers.
The June board meeting was a lot of catch up, and some heavy decisions. The hardest decision in my opinion was to postpone all of our walks until June 2021. What that means is that the original 3 walks left for this year will take place next year. WW54, lay director Jill Denton and spiritual director Larry Mitchell will be June 24-27, 2021, MW39 lay director Terry Leatherwood and spiritual director Wayne Kinman will be July 29-Aug 1, 2021, and WW55 lay director Kathi Shaw, and spiritual director Suzanne Brockmeier will be September 23-26, 2021. The lay directors that have been chosen for 2021 will be moved to 2022. None of the board has or wants a crystal ball to know the future so we just have to have faith and trust God that this is the what he wants us to do. Each of us knows what it is like to be at the ARC. The sharing of room, bathrooms and the tight quarters of the conference room, and chapel making this a decision to let us as a community and a nation to learn the new normal. Whatever that may be.
As our churches reopen, and as we begin to meet again, we need to still remember to give to them. Just as our business do, HPEC and our churches are still in need of finances unfortunately this does not go away with a pandemic or quarantine. You can give online through PayPal off of our website.
We will be having our July gathering at Bovina Methodist Church, 205 4th St., Bovina TX. The board meeting will be at 5:30 pm MDT, Sponsors hour 6:00 pm MDT and community gathering 7:00 pm MDT. We will NOT be having a potluck fellowship. I look forward to seeing you there.
