CVB SPOTLIGHT: Lake Keowee |
 Construction of Lake Keowee resulted in flooding the ancient Cherokee settlement of Keowee Town. Prior to construction, thousands of artifacts were excavated and have been donated to the Museum of the Cherokee in South Carolina, which is located in Walhalla. |

Lake Keowee was constructed in the 1960s-1970s by Duke Power Company to generate hydroelectric power. Today, in conjunction with power generation, Lake Keowee offers an ideal setting for outdoor recreation. With over 300 miles of shoreline, Lake Keowee is popular for: boating, fishing, water-skiing, swimming, camping, and picnicking. Lake Keowee has public boat ramps maintained by Oconee County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism and Duke Energy. Lake Keowee Marina is a full service marina offering sales, boat rentals and The Tiki Hut restaurant. |

2015 Shinning Stars Summer Theater Camp
Walhalla Civic Auditorium is offering a camp for theater fun that will excite children about all things related to theater! Sessions include: Introduction to theater, acting, theater etiquette, costuming, make-up, lighting, props and staging. Two age groups: 7-9 years & 10-12 years
