Summertime in South Carolina is usually enjoyed at the lake, at the beach or in the mountains. With lots of people having summer plans in place, it's hard to get enough Daytrippers together for big activities like a bus trip to a destination away from the Midlands. So the Daytripper Board has decided to offer "Get to Know Each Other Outings" that are fun and easy-to-get-to meetups. Here are the activities planned so far:

This Saturday :: Old McCaskill's Farm

Saturday June 16
Join the Club at Old McCaskill's Farm near Camden for a farm-to-table lunch, a walk-around the farm and shopping at their onsite gift shop! Just $12 + ticketing fee. Drive yourself there. Tickets and details here.

Paint & Pint

Wednesday July 11 :: 6pm - 9pm
The Daytripper Club invites you to join in the fun as we Paint a Long with an instructor from Art Smart Academy. We'll sit under the pergola (weather permitting - if not, we'll paint inside) at Swamp Cabbage Brewery (near Williams Brice Stadium) and enjoy a shady place to paint our masterpieces (Rosey Posey). Take home your artwork as a souvenir and to kick start your new career as an artist. Cost of ticket includes pint of beer. Tickets on Eventbrite here.

Columbia's #1 Escape Room Game! The Final Door

Wednesday July 18
Come join fellow Daytrippers as we figure our way out of an escape room together. We'll meet in the lobby for a drink (wine or beer or soda- pay for your own) before we head into a thrilling scream and laugh-filled experience. Check out The Final Door's website here.

Blackout: The Columbia Killer wants to play a game, and has taken us hostage in his basement making us unwitting players! A huge storm is sweeping across the area, and to make matters worse, it has caused a blackout. With only the lightning to guide us, we've no choice but to play along with the killer’s twisted machinations, or be yet more missing persons in tomorrow’s news! (this room is a great one for people who have never played an Escape Room Game before)

Dinner & a Show :: Beauty and the Beast

Friday July 20
Enjoy dinner with fellow Daytrippers at Pitas, a Mediterannean restaurant on Taylor Street near downtown Columbia. If you haven't been to Pitas, you are in for a treat... fresh, beautiful food from pizza to classic Mediterranean entrees to homemade desserts. Pay for your own dinner. Ticket price does not include it. We'll head to Town Theatre after dinner for the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast. Tickets and more info on Eventbrite here.

Lunch & Bowling :: Quaker Steak & Lube and Beltline Lanes

Wednesday August 1
Whether or not you enjoy bowling (and I think you may change your mind once you've been to this place), we will meet for lunch at Quaker Steak & Lube. Great food, fun atmosphere, good prices.
