CG NEWS & EVENTS

Advent Begins

Sunday marks the start of the Advent season. We will observe this time of anticipation and waiting with readings and the lighting of our Advent wreath. This year, we will focus on selected Christmas carols as we prepare our hearts for the birth of Christ.
Lily Shank will lead us in the first reading as she lights the candle of "Hope."

Advent Celebration ~ Sunday 3-5, Dinner 5-6

Join in our annual tradition of celebrating the start of Advent! Beginning at 3:00, we will have crafts, games, a special reading, and songs as we enjoy time together. Then, at 5:00, we will have a potluck soup dinner. You are invited to come for the entire event or head out before the meal, once the seasonal activities wrap up. You bring the soup and we'll provide bread and dessert.

Bible Studies

Sunday Morning: Advent Class Starts Sunday at 9:30am (December 2, 9, and 16) ~ ”The Theology of Christmas Carols.” We will look at the lyrics of some common Christian carols and the meaning behind them.
In January, we will start a study of Philippians.

Wednesday Morning: Ladies Study - 9am - The book of Job (Meets at Jen Shannon's.)

You are welcome to join in studies at any time!

Youth Group Christmas Project 2018!

We are collecting toys this year for the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office 9th Annual Toy Drive. The donations will be going to Columbiana Children's Services as well as to Heroes & Halos, who support area children and their families with special needs.

Donate new, unwrapped gifts like toys, books, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, and other comfort items. We will be dropping the items off on December 14th, so please stop in with your items by December 13th or bring them with you on any Sunday! Tell your friends and family...the more donations, the more kids who are helped! Thank you to all who have already donated!

Please help our kids help area kids have a brighter Christmas!

Christmastime Devotionals

Two devotional booklets are available on the round table in the Great Room. This year, we have a ten day Christmas reflection from Our Daily Bread as well as an Advent book called "Surprises Along the Way" from the Society of St. Andrew. Take one or both home to enjoy with your family.

Christmas Decorating

Big thanks to all who were able to come out and deck our halls!

OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

The Rescue Mission

Thank you to Crystal Eckman for delivering the message this past Sunday. We learned so much about the history of the Rescue Mission and all the good it brings to our valley. Learn about how you can help the Mission here: Rescue Mission

Coat & Clothing Drive

Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity
Bought some new winter clothes and need to clear space in your closet? Just realized the old winter coat no longer fits? We will gladly take all of that! Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room.

Youth Group Toy Drive

This is the time of year to think about giving and making children smile. One easy way to reach out and do that is by donating to the toy drive! Drop your unwrapped gifts off under the tree in the Great Room up through December 13. The drive will benefit children in our community through Columbiana County Children's Services and Heroes & Halos. The donations will be shared to benefit children being placed in foster care and/or needing assistance as well as those with special needs.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
