The Pride of Queensland
From the Corner to the Cape, and south to Coolangatta,
There’s an undercurrent topic, that dominates the chatter,
It’s when we show our colours, united in one dream,
The swelling pride of Queensland, as we talk about Our Team.
Regardless of our differences, our wealth or occupation,
Deep pride and mateship surges, to form a dark red nation.
We cheer you from the grand stand, the pubs or home alone,
Our colour stirring in our soul, our veins flow pure Maroon.
From the ringer out near Camooweal, to the farmer on the Downs,
The shearer out at Eulo, and in all the outback towns.
We cheer we shout we groan, as you take the heavy hits,
You epitomise our passion, and we love you blokes to bits.
From Burketown to Banana, and out west to Aramac,
You’ve got the power of Queensland, standing right there at your back.
From Brisbane out to Birdsville, and Roma to the bay,
We cheer our team and raise a beer, let’s make those roaches pay.
Can you hear the cheers from Croydon, or from Capella Pub?
And the many watching from their homes, way out in the scrub.
The folks up there in Proston, now they know how to cheer,
At Leyburn Pub they hold their own, and there’re never out of beer.
The TV set transports us, into that scared ground,
We watch and feel each tackle, with a pride that is profound.
We carry you in spirit, with passion we will vouch,
As we all become a footy coach, an expert on the couch.
From Bowen to Bedourie, from Rocky to the Reef,
Queensland will be roaring, as you give those Blues some grief.
From Talwood up to Townsville, they’ll make a vocal fuss,
A state united as they yell, ‘for Christ’s sake shut up Gus!’
So we’ll be cheering for you fellas, we’ll make it nice and loud,
By pulling on that jersey, you’ve already made us proud.
Our hearts they swell to bursting point, with that Queensland pride,
We’ll cheer until we lose our voice, for our mighty Queensland side.
