Happy (Belated) New Year

I don't know about you but January has totally flown by, goodness it's almost over! It's been a total whirlwind over here in The Quilt Rambler Studio - ups, downs, twists, turns - never a dull moment! C'est la vie!

TnT Workshops

TEO's Treasures Quilt Shop has once again invited me to teach in their Dickinson TX shop. Shop owner Sheryl is fabulous to work with, as is her side kick Kathy! This year I am teaching a series I'm calling TnT which stands for techniques and tools which, of course, revolve around Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design tools and technique sheets! We kicked off the year with a class using the Tucker Trimmer I and the Cyclone technique sheet.

Class1.6.20
S9P

For those that are local the next class is Feb 3rd. These half day workshops are to spark your creative juices in learning techniques by making just a few blocks. Students can choose to make a small project or perhaps turn the series into a sampler - which is what we will be doing later in the year with a mystery Block of the Month using the Lemoyne Star tool and techniques. More information is on the website.

Land Locked Quilt Cruise

Jan 25.LLQC

A new season of LLQC events will begin this Saturday in The Quilt Rambler studio. For those unfamiliar with this - simply it's a day or multiple day event where I provide the sewing machines, notions (even thread!) and the use of all my tools - in other words, all you bring is fabric, a sack lunch, and a smile. This first workshop is sold out ~ as I do have limited seating in my studio classroom. Check the website for the complete schedule. One day events are $65 with two day events $120. Events that are scheduled in the fall are TBA - mainly because they are based on patterns that haven't been released yet. Email me with any questions and to make your reservations!

The Quilt Rambler on The Road

LaGrange

I'm excited for this road trip next week with my side kick Dianne - it's a quick turn around as I will be speaking in the morning and teaching a half day workshop in the afternoon. If you are in the area, or know someone who is, please join us!

Onboard Quilting Excursion!

Cruise2020

There remain a few ocean view staterooms at our special booking price, however if you have your heart set on an interior room or balcony Patti can assist. The classroom has a few spots available so please don't delay and miss the ship! Check out the video Patti and I shared this month.

January's Happenings

SewIn2020

It's no wonder it feels like the month has escaped me as I've been busy! My TnT class was the first of the month, then I decided I needed to attend my local guild's monthly sew in as I haven't been post-Harvey (2017). In addition I've been busy behind the scenes trying to close out the accounting for 2019 while creating supply lists and promo graphics for the 2020 events....then it happened!

Lord-Help-Me

Yep - computer issues. Nothing like the panic when you sit down to work and all you see is a blank screen, sorta leaves you feeling hopeless. Long story short, our eldest son shared how Command R on a Mac means restore...which lead to a crazy screen with all these options that are above my pay grade. Rescued by a friend from church who erased and repaired my hard drive then installed a new operating system. Most of my data was in the cloud or dropbox, but I haven't located my Electric Quilt (EQ8) files with all my pattern designs past, present and future. I have a hope to restore them from my external backup drive, but haven't had time to see if that is successful or not...hopefully so. Time will tell!

Exciting News!

designer

Jan 15th I received a HUGE delivery from Island Batik ~ 116 pounds, which translated to over 20 bolts of beautiful fabrics. I'm pleased to share that I will be designing new patterns, along with a capable design team of 4 of my designer friends, to be introduced Fall Market 2020 to support my very own "Signature Line" with Island Batik!!!

Translation - a signature line differs greatly from being a fabric designer. Kathy Engle of Island Batik designed the fabric and I have been given the opportunity to design quilt patterns with it and have my name on the collection. I'm over the moon excited about this, and have been sworn to secrecy of the patterns and fabric design until this fall. But! There will be a few sneak peaks along the way!

Trying Something New

Ramble Sew

Not sure how this will translate into a regular "thing" but I had fun yesterday filming in the studio - something I called "Ramble 'N Sew". I decided to spend about 15 minutes rambling while "Sunday sewing". I've already learned a thing or two from this first taping...one, make sure I have enough things to do AT the sewing machine instead of at the ironing station (grin). And try to figure out how to edit on my iMovie more than just adding a graphic at the beginning or the end. Trust me, I'm open to other suggestions. But I like the idea of every now and then sharing a "video blog" during 15 minutes of sewing...what do you think? Click on the button to view this YouTube.

Well, I think that about wraps it up for this Monday morning - before I know it, it will be February and we will have a chance to chat again. Thanks for subscribing to my newsletter! See ya around social media, and I hope in person at one of my events!
