RIPTA CELEBRATES VETERANS DAY

RIPTA will operate all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in observance of Veterans Day, an official state holiday.

RIPTA offices, including the Photo Identification and Ticket Sales Offices in Kennedy Plaza, will not be staffed on the holiday. In addition, the Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) and the RIde reservation line (461-9760) will not be staffed on Tuesday.

RIPTA HONORS ROSA PARKS

Sunday, December 1st - the date Rosa Parks refused to surrender her bus seat to a white male passenger - is Rosa Parks Human Rights Day. RIPTA salutes her by placing beautiful art signage commemorating her courage on buses as a reminder of who she was and what she represents.

2014 RIPTA T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST WINNER

Thanks to everyone who entered the 2014 T-Shirt Design Contest! We received numerous artistic entries, but one stood out from the rest. Congratulations to Patrick McAree of East Providence.

RIPTA AND AARP HOST FREE “HOW TO RIDE RIPTA WORKSHOP

RIPTA and AARP will host a free “How to Ride RIPTA Workshop” at the Warren Senior Center, 20 Libby Lane, Warren, RI on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10:30AM. During this workshop, RIPTA will teach seniors the basics of using public transportation including how to use RIPTA’s Flex Service. RIPTA Photo ID staff will be on site to process Senior/Disabled Bus Passes for qualified applicants.

Those interested in obtaining a RIPTA Senior Bus Pass are asked to bring $25.00 cash to the session and proof of being over 65 years of age.

This free How to Ride RIPTA Workshop program, developed by AARP and RIPTA, is designed to empower the senior community to mobilize and remain independent. All attendees of this travel training program will receive a free step-by-step “How to Ride Guide.” This guide contains information on how to read a bus schedule, fares, senior discounts and more.

STUFF A BUS FOOD DRIVE

In the spirit of holiday giving, help RIPTA and URI “Stuff a Bus!” Our goal is to stuff a RIPTA bus chock full of non-perishable food and canned good items that will be donated the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
