Praise Team at the Columbiana County Fair

Sunday, 3pm
Wheel on down to the fair this Sunday to take in the sights and sounds...including most of our Praise Team! They'll be at the Midway Stage behind the Grandstand from 3-4pm, ready to play, sing, and make a "joyful noise unto the Lord." Prayers that they touch hearts and minds as they take this time to share their faith through music.

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"This is a wonderful day that the Lord has made – let’s rejoice! I pray you are all doing well and are blessed. Everyday we should all look for those hidden blessings all around us, keep our eyes open and not get in a hurry so we do not pass that blessing by. When we wake up in the morning, we are blessed and rest our heads at night, we are blessed. I am so thankful!"

"Now having said all that, my WORD for today is “BOUND.” My friend Leroy gave a great message Sunday on being “bound” for Heaven. Of course, my mind started reeling and thought about “bound” having two meanings. I want to talk about being “bound.” What in our life has us “bound?” There may be many reasons such as physical. We may be “bound” in emotional baggage from previous hurts in our life. We may be “bound” by addiction of something. I am just being real here but mine is my weight. I have been “bound” being overweight most of my life. Today on the way to work my lightbulb went off. When I am weak, He is strong. Now I have heard that many times before but sometimes we need to get to that place where the Holy Spirit does the eye opening. When we are weak, that is when He can move in our lives to take the chains off. Let me say that again, when we are weak, HE IS STRONG. We cannot do this on our own. We are to be free to do the Father’s work here on earth. If we are “bound” by anything, that will be hindered. Holy Spirit, I pray you free us from anything that has us “bound” because we have work to do. Let us be a witness to others of our freedom in Jesus so we can all be “bound” for Heaven! I pray your week is full of being free in the Holy Spirit!"

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. ~ John 8:36 (NKJV)

News of the Week

We started the week with everyone's favorite task...weeding! If you have never weeded here with our GG crew, you don't know how much fun it can be! You are always welcome to join us for an adventure in weeding, or to enjoy the beauty of nature on your own if you prefer a solitary weeding experience. Rachel would be glad to arrange either option for you!

Another task we tackled this week was hauling donations for the Giveaway to the warehouse. Generous folks continue to drop off items, both inside the church and behind the warehouse. Thanks to all who have been able to do that! Sorting items has been a great rainy day task for us. We even have a CSA family who has made it their goal to bring a donation each Thursday when they pick up their share. How cool is that?!?! Check out the photo above to see how the donations are adding up in the warehouse.

We have been having a great jam selling season, thanks to our Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam fans! Our crew has been working on jam making like crazy lately to rebuild our stock. We have the August Youngstown Flea coming up on the 13th, so we need to be ready for another enthusiastic crowd. Remember, if you bring back one of our jam jars when you are buying a new jar, you get a $1.00 discount! (We even had to send Cameron out to Cook's Corner on an emergency jam jar run yesterday! If you would like to donate regular mouth 8oz. jars...new or used...they would be hugely appreciated!!) Some of the jam that was made this week were our summer favorite peach flavors, Peach Lemonade Juicy Jam and Peach Habanero Jungle Jam. Yay for summer!

Some of our crew spent time in the kitchen baking zucchini bread for the CSA subscribers and baking Communion bread for the church this week. We have some very eager bakers and jam makers among our interns and clients and we are very grateful for that. The rest of our crew has been spending most of their time outside on the ongoing weeding and rock moving tasks. Everyone has certainly been busy!

Tomorrow marks the start of thinking about back to school time for GG, as Keaton works his final day this summer with us. We are certainly going to miss this patient and fun young man, but we wish him a wonderful freshman year at college! Hopefully he will be back among the GG family again next summer. We will be celebrating him with root beer floats. Thanks for spending your summer with us, Keaton!!

Wizard of Oz on Stage - This Weekend Only!

Quoting from The Squeaky Wheel Theater Comapany's Facebook page, "You do not want to miss this heartwarming rendition of The Wizard Of Oz. This cast consists entirely of individuals with different abilities whose talents shine on stage." Tickets Here

We second those statements! All of us at GG are so proud of Dustin, Tori, and Caleb and so many other friends who will be up there on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, ready to transport you to a far away land for adventures. Break a leg to the Wizard of Oz cast! Goodness Grows is very grateful that we, along with Heroes & Halos, had the opportunity to play a small part in bringing this show to life by sponsoring it. We have seen the difference that theater makes in people's lives!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Wizard of Oz in Columbiana

The Squeaky Wheel Theater Company proudly presents The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition, our first special needs production at The Columbiana Cultural Collective - formerly Main Street Theater at 5 N Main Street - the heart of Columbiana.

L. Frank Baum’s classic novel comes to life in The Wizard of Oz. Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. There, she encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk, scarecrows that walk, and things magical to behold. To make it home safely, Dorothy must learn an important lesson: there’s no place like home.
