Sandefur Famiy Picture

A Note From Mr. Sandefur

Lion Family,

Greetings from our nation’s capitol! I have the blessed opportunity to tour Washington D.C. with forty-five middle school students and eighteen chaperones as we have learned about God’s hand that has been on our nation since its founding. Our students have had the opportunity to tour Mount Vernon, participate in the laying of the wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, tour the Capitol building, meet with Senator Marsha Blackburn, and so much more.

Please join me in praying for safety for the remainder of the trip and for traveling mercies as we head home tomorrow.

As we prepare to enter our spring break next week, I pray that you and your family will be able to rest and rejuvenate. I am thankful for your partnership and pray that this week is a blessing to you and your family!

Jeremy Sandefur
President/Head of School

Cat in The Hat Super Reader Week

Elementary Super Reader Week 2023

Over Super Reader Week, our Little Lions had a goal of reading 25,000 minutes outside of the classroom. Our Lions exceeded this goal by reading over 41,500 minutes! We celebrated our super readers with Kona Ice sponsored by TKA parent, Josh Sullivan with Tri Star Land Management and Rockford Valley LandWorks. Way to ROAR in reading Little Lions!

Mrs. Russell's class read for the most minutes with a total of 5,148 minutes! This averages out to approximately 40 minutes per student each night.

All of this additional reading with our elementary students has already proven to help our Little Lions by the progress on their benchmark testing. The overall average for growth in reading is 82 points. The 82 points in growth equate to almost one year's growth within one quarter!

Thank you to our TKA families for reading to and with your Lion each night. It has made an impact on their reading. Keep up the great work Little Lions!

Blessings,

Kelly Sullivan
Elementary Principal

Visitor Policy

TKA Visitor Policy

In order to help maintain a safe and instructionally based learning environment for our students, all visitors for middle and high school must enter through the front door of the Anderson Building and sign in in the middle/high school office in order to receive a visitor's pass. All visitors for elementary must enter the front door of the Ogle Building in order to receive a visitor's pass. This pass should be visible at all times so that TKA faculty and staff know that you have checked in at the office.

Our doors are open to visitors, but please call ahead of time to schedule conferences with your child’s teachers. This will prevent interruptions to instruction and the loss of the valuable learning time of our students. Adults will not be allowed to wander the halls of the building or hold conferences with teachers during instructional times.

TKA family lunch visitors should follow the above procedure. Lunch tickets are $5 each.

Students who are not enrolled at TKA are not permitted to visit TKA students during the school day, which includes lunch.

This policy has been developed in order to help maintain a safe and instruction focused environment at school each day. Any visitor who does not meet these expectations may be asked to leave school grounds.
