CG NEWS & EVENTS

FBS Wrap Up & Fall Fest

Our FBS experience was wrapped up with a bang on Saturday. A great big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this an autumn full of new adventures! We sang songs, reviewed what we learned at FBS, shared our final God Sightings, and then enjoyed the costumes, candy, and crafts of Fall Fest. A good time was had by all.

▪ Our Mission Project ~ Thank you for your generous donations to our FBS Mission Project! We were able to raise $207.00 and 34 food items. By donating through their website, The Youngstown Foundation will add an additional 10% to our donation, allowing even more good to be done! Second Harvest will then help the folks who need it most. Remember, "for every $1 given, the Food Bank distributes $11 worth of food - equivalent to 6 meals - to hungry people through church pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens, shelters for battered women, and after school programs in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties." Garden & Nursery News

The Garden will be led by Jen Shannon this Sunday, with a lesson about turning to God with our doubts. As always, activity pages will be on the table by the Sanctuary doors for kids who remain in Worship.

Nursery kids (age 3 & younger) are invited to the Nursery for a Bible story time. Would YOU like to spend some time in the Nursery and get some quality time with our youngest churchgoers? Volunteers greatly appreciated! Talk to Jen Lynch!

Youth Group

Thank you to the youth for being terrific FBS participants. We had so much fun with you!

On Sunday, we will be heading to The Music Man at Main Street Theater in Columbiana. If you signed up to attend, we have your ticket. (Bring $13 with you on Sunday for the ticket and extra money if you plan to buy a snack at the theater.) After Worship, we will eat lunch together, so bring your lunch. We'll leave for the theater by 1:30. If you are meeting us there, we will see you about 1:45! The following Sunday, November 4th, we will get back to a normal Youth Group schedule.

It's Flu Shot Sunday!

A great big thanks to our own Dr. Pat for once again providing flu shots to our church family. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Jot your name on there and then head to the Cafe before or after Worship this Sunday. While not perfect, the seasonal flu shot protects against the three or four influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season and can reduce the severity of a bout of the flu. Get protected this weekend!

Dustin and the Squirrel Sweet Potato

Happenings Here

We finished up last Friday with a donation of assorted peppers and sweet potatoes to the Columbiana County Community Action Food Pantry in Lisbon. It was certainly a bountiful year for our peppers. Our sweet potatoes also grew like crazy, some becoming gigantic and some taking on crazy shapes, like the one Dustin is holding in the picture!
This week, we volunteered at Whispering Pines on Monday, winterizing their raised beds. Mohawk and Salem were with us on Wednesday and Thursday, enjoying the brisk fall weather while working in our gardens, greenhouses, and also making jam. Mohawk is even extending their time and returning for one more visit next Wednesday! After that, we will have to wait until spring to see our classroom friends again.

OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Coat & Clothing Drive

Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity
Keep saving all your clothing and outerwear items because we will definitely host a giveaway again next fall. Tell your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers that we will accept donations all year! Clothes for all ages and sizes needed, along with coats, bags, purses, shoes...whatever you think might help someone in need. Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40

What can YOU do?
