Dear Practicing Church,

Join us tomorrow as we gather to remember the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, and to pray and lament for our nation. And then we hope you participate over the weekend in listening to those who are carrying his legacy forward. I have included some events below.

Known as “MLK Sunday," this year's observance must respond to the crisis moment we are in and uphold the vision of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s for a beloved community, which undergirds the commitment to a multiracial democracy that is now under violent threat and attack in the United States. As followers of Jesus, we must repent from all the ways that we are complicit with white supremacy and we must continually interrogate our allegiances submitting ourselves to the mercy and self-sacrificing love of Jesus Christ.

Join us!

MLK SUNDAY // QUEST CHURCH

This Sunday's message from Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil is a rally cry to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by calling people to follow his example of being “ALL IN” to create a society of compassion and justice where all people can reach their full, God-given potential. This livestreams at 10am but you can listen to it retroactively.

MLK SUNDAY // SAINT MARK'S

The Rev. Canon Walter Brownridge, in his role as Saint Mark's Theologian-in-Residence for 2021 will preach his first sermon for the cathedral at the 11 am Eucharist service on Sunday, January 17. We welcome Canon Brownridge’s prophetic voice in these times, and in recognition of the Federal Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, and look forward to his working with the community in coming months.
