FOOD + FARM DAY THIS SATURDAY!

Glynwood FFD Ad 600x400 1

We hope to see you at Food + Farm Day! We guarantee a fun, communal day of activities for the whole family that demonstrate, first-hand, local agriculture and our work on behalf of the Hudson Valley's regional food system.

Did we mention our partners? Thank you Fresh Company, Chronogram, Zero to Go, Eleanor's Best, Cold Spring Farmers Market, Marbled Meats and all of the many people who are contributing their talent and expertise to the day's events.

Here is our detailed program to help you plan your visit. Also, we love animals but we ask that you please leave pets at home. This is for their safety and your convenience.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children 5-12; free for children under 5. For those who were planning on buying tickets to Community Burger Night, we are unfortunately sold out.

UPCOMING EVENTS

August Farm Dinner

Consume Something Awesome with guest chef Steven Satterfield on Friday, August 19. Our annual CSA Farm Dinner is a vegetarian celebration of local farmers and great-tasting locally grown produce, and there's no better way than with an al fresco meal at the height of the growing season.

Steven Satterfield, dubbed “the vegetable shaman” by Sam Sifton of The New York Times, is chef and co-owner of Miller Union in Atlanta, GA. His book Root to Leaf, a cookbook that celebrates the world of fresh produce, makes the most out of the edible parts of plants. He has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation as a finalist for Best Chef: Southeast, among other accolades. He is active with many organizations including Slow Food, Chefs Collaborative and the James Beard Foundation Boot Camp.

Volunteer Dirt Days

Assist our vegetable team with the necessary maintenance of our crops, while gaining hands-on experience. Anyone and everyone is welcome! We've played around a little with our dates, and postponed the next Dirt Day from this Sunday to Sunday, August 21. The subject will be onions!

Additional Dirt Days are scheduled for September 25 and October 10. They are on Sundays and start at 1:00pm at our Farm Store/CSA pick-up. For more information, contact Jarret Nelson directly.

Save the Date!

Glynwood Gala Sate the Date 2016 website

Our annual Farm Dance Gala will be held on Saturday, September 10, beginning at 4:00pm. Spend the night dancing and dining under the stars while helping to support Glynwood's mission and programs. The Edith and Bennett Band returns from last year, as does our Live Auction. And stay tuned for more information on this year's Harvest Award recipient (hint: The New Yorker is a fan.) Of course the hallmark of this event is the food! Feast on the best of what Glynwood and other regional farms have to offer at the peak of the season with a meal prepared by Harvest Real Food Catering & Events, featuring the best foods from producers in the Hudson Valley with whom we collaborate throughout the year.

Tour Glynwood!

Glynwood Tours 2016

Guided Tours take place on the last Saturday of the month (except for this month), originating at 2pm at our Farm Store. The next tour is Saturday, August 27, led by our Vice President of Development, Liz Corio.

Our next Family Farm Tour is Tuesday, August 23, at 3:45pm. Tours are led by children's educator Barbara Sarbin of Something Good in the World, a nonprofit that specializes in farm-based education for school-aged children.

Advance ticket purchase is required for guided tours, which are approximately 1 hour in duration (a little longer with children) and on foot.

Free Self-Guided Tours are possible when our Farm Store is open (Tuesdays & Fridays, 3-6pm; Saturdays, 9am-1pm), where complimentary annotated maps are available. More information on visiting Glynwood is available on our website.

RULES OF THE ROAD

A quick reminder that we are a working farm with daily agricultural operations that continue regardless of guests on the property. We ask that visitors are mindful of farmers at work, tractors on the move and all animals on the property. For everyone’s safety, please adhere to our STRICT 20 MPH speed limit on Glynwood Road, parts of which are one-way only. Farming vehicles and incoming cars always have the right of way. For more information on visiting our farm, please visit our website.
