Port Ambrose LNG, the Liquefied Natural Gas facility proposed off New York's shoreline, is a primary concern right now even if you live inland. Like the Seneca Lake storage caverns, or the pipelines that cross valuable wetlands, streams and forests, or, um, next to a nuclear power plant, this is yet another proposal that one might think could only be hatched by a Marvel Comics evil genius. This is no comic book, but there ARE a whole lotta good guys out to set things right, and we're counting on you to join them.

State Legislators Rosenthal and Hoylman Oppose Port Ambrose; Call on Colleagues to Join Them

For months we have been calling for elected officials to oppose Port Ambrose. Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal and State Senator Brad Hoylman have become the latest to answer that call by writing a sign-on letter to Cuomo requesting his veto on the project. Now we need you to get YOUR rep to sign onto their letter.

Donovan Richards Introduces NY City Council Resolution Against Port Ambrose

DR

NYC Councilman Donovan Richards

On January 22, Chair of the NY City Council Committee on Environmental Protection, Donovan Richards, introduced a resolution opposing the Port Ambrose project, drawing a clear connection to security risks, as well as the global warming risk to coastal communities like those that Richards represents. As he put it: "Approving the off-shore terminal application for Liberty Natural Gas will irrevocably harm any current and future efforts to limit the impact of human activity on the environment. With . . . the development of renewable sources of energy in the balance, I implore the administration to do the right thing and deny this application.” Click here to see the video.

WE NEED EVERYONE IN NYC to contact their council member and get them to sign onto Richards' resolution. Tips for reaching out can be found HERE. And be sure to thank those who have already signed on; so far that includes Margaret Chin, Corey Johnson, Rosie Mendez, Helen Rosenthal, and Eric Ulrich! Go get 'em, New York City!

Tell YOUR Representative to GET IN THE GAME!

We've created an easy legislative kit for Port Ambrose:
In addition to getting lots of comments on Port Ambrose filed before the March 16th deadline, our focus now is getting lots of electeds to signal Cuomo that he must veto the project. If neither Cuomo nor Christie do an outright veto, the project defaults to being approved!

WE NEED PEOPLE ALL OVER THE STATE TO CALL THEIR REPS
Please circulate the following:
• A sample request letter for you to use is here.
• The state legislative sign-on letter opposing Port Ambrose is here.
• Sample letters from various other electeds are here.

Thanks for all your help!
