Sapphire Coast - Tourism Newsletter December 2018

View newsletter in browser here

Merry Christmas All,
As you know too well, summer is a time to work hard and earn fast in what is still, very much, a two-speed tourism economy. At SCDM we understand it will be back to business in a flash after a quick indulgence with family and friends in your own backyard. Some moan at the traffic whilst we all look on gladly that our biggest fans are back in town and there is some action in the tills.
In the 6 months since the change of the tourism contract we have been super busy, and plan to stay that way to support the most important part of the Tourism economy, the industry.
Since July 1 some of the highlights have been;
* Increasing our digital and social reach in an increasingly competitive online environment.
* Hosting 7 media famils
* Hosting 160 plus industry partners at Tourism Future 2030 to network, ideate and collaborate at the forum and three days of masterclasses.
* Releasing the Experience Development Platform and Vision to revisit the important things that will drive us forward.
* Hosting 90 plus industry partners at the Merimbula networking event

We look forward to continuing the good work with you in 2019.

In this newsletter
* Cultural and Event Masterclasses open for EOIs
* Save the date for next networking event
* Make your contribution to the Experience Development Platform and Vision
* Spaces filling fast for EAT Merimbula 2019
* Spotlight on new tourism experiences
* Inbound Strategy Workshop
* Bega Valley Innovation Hub 'Business Accelerator' program now open
* DNSW grant funding now open

Cheers,
Anthony Osborne

Spotlight on new tourism experiences

The recent TF2030 event showed just how criticial collaboration, communication and rubbing shoulders is for tourism operators in the region. Moving forward, we'll be showcasing start up businesses as well as existing businesses with new offerings, so feel free to get in touch and let us know what's new.

This newsletter it's all about Currajong Common, a working Angora goat farm situated at Burragate. Currajong Common will be offering immersive experience for visitors including Sunday lunch featuring fresh local produce plus time to spend meeting the gorgeous goats, learning about the farming processes and generally enjoying the beautiful scenery. Click here to download the Currajong Common flyer - a classic country Sunday Lunch will be a great idea for your guests

Alluding to all that collaboration, Currajong Common is also partnering with Captain Sponge's Magical Oyster Tours to offer "Ocean to Earth". Branded as authentic experiences with primary producers, visitors will take Sponge's award winning Pambula Lake tour and then be transported to Currajong Common where they'll meet the goats, enjoy a local produce lunch and end the day at Dunblane Farm - home of the tasty Lamb! This is a really great initiative that showcases both our pristine lakes and our innovative agriculture. To download the flyer click here or to discuss further contact Lara on 6495 6452.
