Voluntary Benefits' Claim of the Week

man with broken back

This past week I was reminded of a client who last year fell down a flight of stairs at work (cement with metal coverings) and literally broke his back.

He is still out of work!

The likelihood of him returning to the work that he does (trades) is slim.

As a 1099 contractor he was NOT covered under Worker's Compensation.

The sad part is, he kept delaying the appointment we had to purchase a Disability Insurance policy that would cover him on and off the job.

His Disability policy only covered Off job!

His wife now works full-time. He watches tv as they spend down his retirement and the kid's college funds.

If you are work as a 1099 Contractor OR are Self-Employed get covered!
