What's New Today?

Make sure to complete the census! 2020census.gov

Food Donations

Please consider donating food to the Mukilteo Food Bank. Your help is needed more than ever. In addition, a message from our Firefighters- they really appreciate the community support and food that has been dropped off at the station! However, they would like to encourage our residents to direct those donations to the Food Bank. There are so many of us who have lost their jobs and really need that support.

Mukilteo Schools Foundation Support

The Schools Foundation is doing a photo contest for the community and to raise money for their efforts to support kids in families with lower incomes as they work to do distance learning. Learn more here.

Harbour Reach Project Beginning

The Harbour Reach Corridor Project was deemed as an essential transportation project. The contractor is on site today, beginning their work. You won't see much for a little while as they get their equipment on site. They will have a construction trailer at City property on Beverly Park Road, near 132nd (and the community banner location). They will practice good physical distancing during their work.

Economic Impact Payments

By April 17, the IRS is going to release a new tool called Get My Payment, which will provide people with the status of their payment, including the date their payment is scheduled to be deposited into their bank account or mailed to them.
An additional feature on Get My Payment will allow eligible people a chance to provide their bank account information so they can receive their payment more quickly rather than waiting for a paper check. This feature will be unavailable if the Economic Impact Payment has already been scheduled for delivery.

There is also a new web tool, available now, for non-filers to enter payment info so they can more quickly receive their payments.

NIH Beginning Antibodies Study

National Institutes of Health (NIH) has begun a new study to determine how many adults in the United States without a confirmed history of infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), have antibodies to the virus.

Volunteers will be provided with detailed instructions to collect and submit a microsample of blood using an FDA approved at home blood collection kit.

To participate, volunteers must meet the following requirements:
• Over the age of 18
• Living in the United States
• Complete a verbal telephone consent, undergo one blood draw or at-home blood collection and have blood samples stored for future research
• Individuals who suspect they have recovered from COVID-19, but never accessed laboratory testing while ill or who have never had symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are eligible to participate

Interested in enrolling? Contact clinicalstudiesunit@nih.gov

For more information please read NIH’s news release.

Did you see that Belgian-Dutch study about staying far from other runners or bicyclists? It hasn't been peer reviewed. Here is one bicycling site's analysis of it, and another one that talks about the difference between virology versus aerodynamic studies. Short story is that more research needs to be done and 65' distances between bicyclists may not be necessary. However, the 6 foot distance recommendations from the CDC are still important.

cloth face covers

Face Covering guidelines from the CDC available here.

Interested in donating face covers? Get instructions here: https://mukilteowa.gov/news/directions-to-make-donate-and-use-face-covers-in-snohomish-county/

Follow Physical Distancing Guidelines, stay 6 feet away from anyone you don't live with.

Use hand sanitizer/wipes as you enter a grocery store (the Mukilteo QFC has wet wipes available at the entrance). Wash hands immediately upon returning home.

Tell Others to also stay at home and stay apart.

Give blood- schedule online (to help minimize social contact) at https://www.bloodworksnw.org/donate (no mobile blood drives because they have issues transporting themselves to sites. But they have great procedures in place at their facilities).
