Common Ground Family,
As you undoubtedly have heard, Governor DeWine has implemented school closures and bans on large gatherings in the fight against COVID-19. Churches remain exempt, at least for now. Common Ground's staff and leadership are following developments closely and will decide on protective measures as the need arises.
There is plenty of good, sensible guidance on this situation in which we now find ourselves. We know it is possible to protect ourselves and others from being infected. However, the approaches are so ordinary that we can easily underestimate how effective they can be: Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, be friendly but don’t shake hands (waving or elbow bumping work great), cover those coughs and sneezes with tissues or your inner elbow (then wash hands again), keep away from sick people, and stay home when you are sick.
You don’t have to be afraid when you hear someone coughing near you. If that person is not coughing directly at you and isn't within six feet, the viruses can’t get to you because they are in large respiratory droplets that fall to the ground. The virus does not float and circulate in the air. This is why we keep hearing about "practicing social distancing."
Goodness Grows has stepped up their cleaning regime this week and will continue to clean with the utmost care as the weeks progress. Toys, door handles, light switches, faucets, soap dispensers, drinking fountains, and more have all been disinfected. Our soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, tissues, and paper towels are at the ready. We encourage everyone to use them liberally!
As of now, church will proceed as normal on Sunday. Use your own best judgement on what you feel is right for your family. If anything changes between now and then, we will inform you by email and Facebook as we seek to make the best decisions possible for our church family and the community. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
