Welcome back to Term 2! We were all very excited to see all of our students on Monday and we have been so impressed by how our students have settled straight back into their learning. They are all very engaged and showing lots of confidence in their work.

A reminder to families of our Curriculum Days for 2024:
● Monday 24th June - Parent Teacher Interviews.
● Monday 12th August - This day will be for staff to continue to build their capacity with wellbeing practice and First Aid Certificate 2.
● Monday 16th December - 2025 Planning Day

Arrival Time

We are noticing that a number of students are arriving well before 8:45 am. There is no supervision of children at school prior to 8:45 am. If students arrive before 8:45 am, they must attend TheirCare before school care. As a matter of safety please plan out your morning so your child is dropped off between 8:45 am and 9:00 am.

After School Pick Up

A reminder to parents that students can not go to Phoenix Park Library unsupervised by a parent or guardian. Stonnington Local Law states that all children 12 and under must be supervised by an adult. Please see the local laws here - Stonnington Local Laws

We will be working closely with Phoenix Park Library, and any student who is there unsupervised will be brought to the office and parents will be contacted.

If you require after school care, please book your child into our Out of School Hours program with TheirCare by clicking this LINK.

Important whooping cough information for parents

Monash Health South East Public Health Unit has been notified of several outbreaks of whooping cough (pertussis) in schools within our local area. The majority of cases are within the 10- to 14-year-old age group. There have been NO cases reported at MVPS.

We are asking families to keep their child/ren home if they are unwell, as we have students and staff who are immune compromised.

If you would like further information on whooping cough please refer to the Better Health Channel for information about whooping cough symptoms, prevention and Victorian eligibility for free booster immunisations.

Annual Report Meeting 2023

Thank you to those community and staff members who attended our 2023 Annual Report Meeting last night. It was a great opportunity for us to celebrate our students achievements from 2023 as well as reflect on highlights throughout the year, including our VERY successful Carnival and our musical The Lion KIng. Thank you also to our School Council members for attending and their contributions to the evening.

Assembly / Newsletter

It has been great to see all the families joining us at our fortnightly assemblies. We look forward to our first assembly for Term 2 on Friday 26th April at 2:45pm. The dates can be found on the Compass calendar (they are in the even weeks of term). The newsletter will continue to be published fortnightly, on the alternate weeks to the assembly. It will be posted on Compass on Thursday.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next Assembly on Friday 26th April at 2:45pm. Our Junior School Council representatives will be sharing an ANZAC day commemoration.

JSC - ANZAC Day

Over the next two weeks (ending on Friday 26th) the JSC will be visiting each classroom to sell Anzac Day Appeal merchandise. We will be coming around at 2:30pm each day.

Here are the prices: $2-5 for pins, $3 wristband, $4 keyring and $5 pens. This usually sells out quickly, so don’t forget to bring correct money, we won’t be able to have change to give.

We will also be commemorating the ANZACS on Friday 26th April at our whole school assembly - 2.40pm.

Thank you from Maya, Kit, Nikash & the JSC team.

Here are some photos of our merchandise:

MVPS is now registered to receive donations through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme. Together we can make a positive difference to our environment and our school community. We encourage all MVPS Families to return eligible bottles/cans to the Oakleigh Return It Depot (Oxford St, Oakleigh). Once your donations have been fed through the machine click on ENTER SCHEME ID and scan our school barcode (attached), and your donation will be made to the school. Keep your receipt and give it to your teacher when we return to school and the winning class at the end of each term will receive a class prize!
