Hello !!
As you may have heard, “Feldenkrais” was one of the two final words in the recent Scripps National Spelling Bee. Excitement within the community of Feldenkrais Practitioners, at least those with an on-line presence, ran high. Perhaps, just maybe, after all this time . . . we were becoming more of a household word, a term people had at least heard of or had a vague sense about! Searches for “Feldenkrais” on Wikipedia jumped way up to 7634 after the spelling bee. The daily average is 408. Hmmm, I wonder how many will actually come try it out.

You can though -- click on the picture below for a short lesson or come to a class.

Awakening the Upper Back to Improve Posture

Here's short excerpt from the last lesson in the Posture and Alignment series that bridges nicely to the next topic. We send gentle pressure through the upper back, that often-stubborn area between the shoulder blades. This is an unfamiliar, non-habitual way for the spine to experience force and therefore engages the brain in learning. Pushing is done with only 20% effort. You may push the wall with either the palm of the hand (fingers pointed downward) or with a fist, padding the hand with a small towel if needed for comfort.

This is a lesson from Bones for Life®, developed by Master Feldenkrais Trainer, Ruthy Alon. It's useful for upright alignment as well as re-organizing the upper back to support the arms in action.
