Thank you again for taking the time to e-mail our Parliamentarians after the shooting in Ottawa on October 22nd. This is a day that will change our nation forever. Parliamentarians are continuing to process what happened while returning to work with determination.
Our director (on behalf of MY Canada) wrote the Prime Minister, and all Parliamentarians, letting them know that we were praying for them at this time and to encourage them.
Following is the response we received from Prime Minister Harper:
Dear Ms. Grasseschi:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the recent attacks in Ottawa and St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec. Like all Canadians, I was deeply shocked and saddened by the killing of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, and by the attack on Parliament, symbol of Canadian democracy.
Please know that I appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts. As I stated in the House of Commons, Canada will never yield to terrorism. We will redouble our efforts to keep Canadians safe while we pull together in solidarity, confident in our values as a free and democratic society and united in our profound admiration for the men and women of Canada's Armed Forces.
Yours sincerely,
The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P.
Prime Minister of Canada
