On Tuesday night (Nov. 4th), the Senate voted to pass Bill C-36 commonly referred to as the new "Prostitution Law."

MP Joy Smith issued a press release this morning where she stated, “A truly progressive society encourages the equality and dignity of women, not the prostitution of women,” states MP Joy Smith. “I want to build a Canada that targets predators and pimps, helps vulnerable individuals escape prostitution, and upholds the dignity of women. We can do better for women and youth, and with the passing of Bill C-36, we will.” Click here to read her entire press release.

Thank you so much for your support of this legislation. It made a difference. The bill is expected to receive Royal Assent shortly.

ACTION POINTS

1 - Please continue to pray for all those involved in exploiting women to have a change of heart and change of ways. Please also pray for the victims of sex trafficking to be rescued and restored. Finally, please pray for our law enforcement officials as they work to protect victims of sex crimes.

2 - Please take a moment to contact Minister Peter MacKay to congratulate him on his work with this bill and it's passing.

A RESPONSE FROM PRIME MINISTER HARPER

ParliamentShootingSpeechTranscript

Thank you again for taking the time to e-mail our Parliamentarians after the shooting in Ottawa on October 22nd. This is a day that will change our nation forever. Parliamentarians are continuing to process what happened while returning to work with determination.

Our director (on behalf of MY Canada) wrote the Prime Minister, and all Parliamentarians, letting them know that we were praying for them at this time and to encourage them.

Following is the response we received from Prime Minister Harper:

Dear Ms. Grasseschi:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the recent attacks in Ottawa and St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec. Like all Canadians, I was deeply shocked and saddened by the killing of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, and by the attack on Parliament, symbol of Canadian democracy.

Please know that I appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts. As I stated in the House of Commons, Canada will never yield to terrorism. We will redouble our efforts to keep Canadians safe while we pull together in solidarity, confident in our values as a free and democratic society and united in our profound admiration for the men and women of Canada's Armed Forces.

Yours sincerely,

The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P.
Prime Minister of Canada

WILL YOU STAND WITH US AS OUR TEAM GOES TO PARLIAMENT?

Josiah9andPrimeMinister

In a week and a half our next team will be headed to the Parliament of Canada to meet with our leaders. This vibrant team of 21 young adults from across Canada is expected to meet with over 80 MPs in 5 days and host our annual reception of honour for our leaders. This will be our 14th team to go to Parliament and it is always an extremely impacting time, both for our Parliamentarians and for the team. Many Parliamentarians have told us that meeting with the MY Canada teams is always a highlight to their year!

This year the team will be speaking to our leaders about important issues such as freedom of conscience, religion and speech in Canada. They will also address topics such as human trafficking, abortion, marijuana use and more. In the meetings the team will ask our leaders to stand for Biblical morality in Canada, present them with a gift to honour them and they will pray for them.

Will you stand with us as we stand for Canada?

Josiah2014Fundraising2

The team is currently in a fundraising campaign to raise $5,000 for some of their general expenses. We are hoping to raise this before we go to Parliament in 1.5 weeks.

We would be so grateful if you would consider sowing a strategic seed into this strategic team. Thank you for your consideration.

JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST EBOLA IN WEST AFRICA

LiberiaEbloa

From Faytene Grasseschi

It was my deep honour to spend some of my beginning years in Christian work in the back woods of West Africa, Liberia. The land, the people, and what God was doing there were all absolutely beautiful. Never in my life have I ever encountered a people who in the midst of profound struggle with things such as war, terror, hunger, disease and more had such joyful determination to overcome. I quickly fell in love with this nation and it's people. ... click here to read more ...
