Remember just a few months back when a certain set of very unwelcome microscopic visitors (whose name begins with "C") first arrived?
And somehow we all knew life would never be quite the same again.
We were right. And wrong.
Some things are definitely different.
For starters, the resident fashion-challenged large featherless/shell-less assistant has recently caught herself actually complimenting other beings on their choice of masks.
And especially envying the mask patterns she sees that include shells or feathers.
Some things, however, are very much the same.
Pearl still gobbles up every waffle he sees...whether it was particularly meant for him or not.
Malti still sits on every new plant in her enclosure until it completely flattens into an even (and oddly attractive) pattern.
And Bruce still loves to climb ferns. And vines. And the wire mesh walls of his outdoor enclosure. And me.
We have become even more grateful for the small stuff, and the big stuff, and the medium-sized stuff. And especially for one another.
As it turns out, it is a good month to be alive and breathing and basking under the intense and sanitizing feel-good ultraviolet rays of yet another blazing Texas summer sun.
How are you?
