Sunday's Service - September 6, 2020 In-Person & Online @ 11am | Worship will take place outside in front of the church at the raised bed garden. The featured Scripture is: Philippians 4:6-7 for Mike's message: In Christ: I Have Peace We all battle anxiety from time to time, but it's a losing battle to try to beat it on our own. We simply cannot create true peace on our own. It is only In Christ we experience true peace of heart, soul, and mind. Join us this Sunday as we explore how to find peace in Christ. ~ Pastor Mike Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) Join us Sunday ~ In-Person & Online ~ for Worship Connecting Life Church Facebook Page | Outdoor Worship We will have a number of canopies set up out front to provide shade and space to allow us to follow the social distancing guidelines. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Today's encouragement comes from Darla Smith. Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us. "God is certainly blessing us with some gorgeous weather! Let the sun shine in! I pray this finds you all full of God's love and blessings overflowing! He certainly cares about each one of us and I do too!" "My word for this week is "HIRED." I struggled a bit with this but God assured me that this was the one. Have you ever been hired for a job for which you may not have had any experience whatsoever? But, the employer saw something in you and took a chance on you. Well, our Heavenly Father has done the same. He "hires" us, so to speak to, do His work. We don't need any experience at all. Just come as you are." "In the Old Testament there are numerous times God "hired" someone to get the job done that had no experience. David was a young shepherd boy that slew a giant, Goliath. Moses led the people out of Egypt and he had a speech impairment. Rahab was a harlot and she helped God's people and is in the lineage of Jesus. The worshipers went before the soldiers in battle to prepare the way. Joshua helped tumble down walls with praise. Mary was Jesus' mama. The misfit disciples traveled and were taught by Jesus. Paul was once a murderer and yet God used him mightily. We all have God's potential to do the job set before us. Even if we think, "No. Not me?" Oh yes, you! Let the Holy Spirit guide you in the job God has just for you. Let's all do our part to help others find their way. I love you all and am so glad God "HIRED" us to do our part. Have a wonderful rest of the week!" Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood, may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. ~ Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT) | September Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am Join us at church or online via Facebook Live: Connecting Life We will continue to be guided by the health and safety guidelines set forth by the governor and the health department, so we require masks to be worn in our building. This year our tomatoes are producing abundantly, and we were so pleased to be able to share with folks in our community. The Lord's Blessing Food Pantry just opened last fall but has been able to help people from all over Columbiana County. Monday was a crazy busy day and an exciting start to the week! Mrs. Kromer subbed for Rachel, we pollinated with q-tips in the greenhouse, Ethan and his mom visited and brought us farm-fresh fruit, we had a butterfly release, and it was virtual race day with the therapy bunnies from F5RS Bunnies in Baskets as they race to earn money by "OutRunning Osteosarcoma" to Make It Better for Kids with Cancer! It was a fantastic day and we are pleased to report that the race was a definite success! Tuesday was Jade's first day leading the clients on her own and she did a terrific job! The crew worked outside around the pepper and tomato plants for a large portion of the day. They filled four wheelbarrows full to the brim with weeds. As you know, there is always weeding to be done here...and they sure did it! Today marks the last month of the 2020 CSA program. Our folks are having the adventure of harvesting in the rain. After today, there are only three more pick-up days. Then we get to start planning for CSA 2021! | Canning Supply Emergency Did you know that... A) making and selling Jungle Jam is our biggest fundraiser? B) the pandemic is making canning intensely popular? C) stores everywhere, online and brick-and-mortar, are running out of canning jars and lids? Without 8oz. jars and new lids, our clients won't get the life skill/job skill training that working in the kitchen on this project provides. Without 8oz. jars and new lids, we won't be able to bring in needed funds that help support our program. Without 8oz. jars and new lids, Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam fans won't be able to have the jam they love. If you have any old 8oz. canning jars that need a new home, we would love to provide that home. If you would like to donate new jars and/or packs of lids, we promise to put them to good use.
