Thank you for registering for our upcoming Trail Run at Pine Mountain/Cooper Furnace on November 8th. This is a repeat/reminder of the previous email you should have already received which outlines all of our new procedures. We had some trees come down on the trails from Hurricane Zeta, but are working to clear the course so you will have good conditions on race day.

PARKING - Parking is very limited at this venue - we are requesting that runners in the same family or friend groups carpool as you feel comfortable to help us reduce the number of vehicles at Cooper Furnace. A big thank you to those who volunteered to park at the overflow parking area!

RACE PROCEDURES

▪ Make sure your race bib is pinned on your FRONT - do not bend the foam timing chip
▪ You may start the race anytime between 8 am and 9 am, so just walk up to the start, wait at the next available cone and wait for directions. The event will be Time Trial Format - you may start with friends, but groups need to be smaller than ten. YOU MUST START BEFORE 9 AM - NO LATE STARTS. Your time starts when you cross over the start/finish mats.
▪ No pre-race group meeting - This email serves as your pre-race meeting and instructions.
▪ We have added 0.6 miles to the short course so ALL runners have the opportunity to summit Pine Mountain and take in the view at the top.
▪ "Emergency Only" Aid Station on both courses - We recommend all runners carry their own calories and fluids, however we WILL have water and Hammer Gels available near the summit if you run out or get into trouble. If you take anything from the aid station, you MUST place it in the trash - bottles need to be fully emptied before being put in the trash. No throwing bottles or trash on the ground. Hand sanitizer will be available at the aid station.
▪ Do not litter anywhere on the course - penalty is a DQ
▪ Course will be well marked with pink ribbons, pink/black arrow signs at turns, and course marshals. Pink ribbons indicate the direction you want to head and are also used to designate that you are on-course if it has been a while in between turns. Course marshals will be positioned throughout the course for your safety.
▪ After summiting, 8 mile runners will turn left at the aid station and complete the Pine Mountain West Loop. 5 mile runners will turn right and head back down the East Loop.
▪ Give other folks not in your family/running group at least 6' spacing while at the race venue. Pass quickly and courtesously while out on the trail.
▪ ANNOUNCE if you are passing to groups/runners ahead and say PASSING RIGHT or PASSING LEFT and give them a chance to move to the side. WORK TOGETHER, BE NICE and give each other space out on the trails. THERE WILL BE A FEW AREAS WITH TWO WAY TRAFFIC ON THIS COURSE, so do not be alarmed if you see runners coming at you - especially if you start after 8:30 am.
▪ At roughly 1 mile from the finish on both courses, you will encounter the Laurel Ridge Trail. It is rooty, rocky and rugged for 0.5 miles, so please be careful.
▪ Once finished, please do not congregate near the finish line. Cooper Furnace has a lot of space to spread out, so please find your own safe space.
