Happy International Religious Freedom Day!

Today, MY Canada and millions across Canada and the World recognize International Religious Freedom Day.

We thank God for the religious freedom we enjoy here in Canada. We also recognize that there is much work to be done to protect religious freedom here at home and to fight for it around the world.

Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Human Rights and Religious Freedom, MP David Anderson has said:

"Three quarters of the world's population live without the absolute freedom to believe. In Canada and worldwide, we are seeing increased pressure on freedom for faith and belief. This day was born out of a need for lawmakers to speak out, stand up and do more for persecuted religious minorities."
