Dear Women of the Guild,

As we begin to witness the arrival of a new season, we’re quickly reminded that God’s “autumn paint brush” is in overdrive, redecorating the landscape with multiple shades of reds and yellows and splashes of orange.

And as the Women’s Guild steps into fall, we may not have the precision of God’s hand, but the Guild’s board has been in overdrive too, preparing a rich variety of programming not to be missed!

Over the next two months, the calendar is graced with some incredible daytime events which include Pam Coster’s Prayer Walk at the Botanic Gardens, an Art & Architecture presentation with architectural historian Dr. Denis McNamara, along with Flower Arranging for those in need of an extra dose of cheer! We’ve got a Knitting Group too, every Thursday morning with a little coffee and conversation thrown into the mix!

And if you can’t get away during the day, we’ve got you covered!
The Guild’s annual Sip, Shop & Support event is back! Join us on the evening of October 27th in the Parish Center where you can grab a glass of wine along with a nibble or two from Grateful Bites and get a head start on your holiday shopping! A portion of all proceeds will help support Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart, Chicago.

And don’t forget to "Save the Date" for our Advent Candlelight event on December 1st. Details on programing and registration are listed below.

Finally, help support the Women’s Guild by becoming a member today. Your donation of $60 helps provide a little something for everyone!

FHC Women’s Guild Advent Candlelight

7 pm Wednesday, December 1

Please join us for a faith filled evening
of speakers, Christmas carols, and community

Not Quite Back to Normal
The Advent Candlelight program is back but with a “Covid” twist. Since we are still dealing with uncertainties surrounding the virus, this year’s program will begin in the church where attendees will be gifted with stories from inspiring speakers and the merry sounds of Christmas carols. After the program, the Advent celebration continues as we gather outside under the arches for libations and dessert. Heaters will be positioned to keep everyone warm while visiting around assigned high top tables.

Covid Protocol
Hostesses and their guests will be assigned a pew as will single attendees. Covid protocols (dependent on requirements on December 1st) will be followed.

How it Works
One or more ladies sponsor a cocktail table with a maximum of 6-8 women. They provide dessert and drinks after the church portion of the evening. Coffee and tea will be provided by the Guild. For women wanting to attend but not interested in hosting a table, there will be an option to sign up as a single attendee and you will be assigned to one of the community pews and tables.

Sign Up Reminder
The Signup Genius will be open to dues paying Guild members on Thursday, November 4 @ 10:00 am. If tables still remain, the sign up will open to non members on Monday, November 8 @ 10:00 am. Both hostesses and singles will signup at the same time. Time stamped reservations will be taken until maximum seating is met. This year there will be 45 tables available.

Cost
$50/hostess table; $10/single attendee. Signup & Payment will be via Sign Up Genius. As a reminder in the past, this event has sold out immediately. If you are interested please make sure you mark your calendar to sign up as it is on a first come first serve basis. Please dress according to the weather conditions outdoors.

Meals on Wheels

We are always looking for volunteers to serve as substitute drivers when one of our regular drivers is unable to drive. It is a simple way to help those in our community who are unable to shop and prepare food for themselves.

If you are interested in helping out, please email Laura Sorensen at laurasorensen@comcast.net. Thank you for your help!

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021

A Candle Remembrance Service will be celebrated the evening of November 2nd in the church. This has been a lovely tradition of honoring and praying for our recently deceased loved ones on All Souls' Day. It is also a way to show those who are grieving that our parish community shares in their loss. All are welcome.

For questions, contact the parish office at 847.446.7646 or parishoffice@faithhope.org.
