VOLUNTEER AND JOIN THE RACE DAY CREW

Online Registration opens Aug. 17!

Why volunteer?
Because without volunteers, we cannot hold the race. For each race weekend, we need about 180 people to run a race.

If your son or daughter is racing, volunteer to help when your child is not racing. Be a part of the excitement and still be able to watch your son or daughter race!

New for 2019! In order to receive one of the awesome custom t-shirts, from Wolf Tooth, a MN League sponsor, you need to be signed up with our online registration tool and complete 3 volunteer shifts - SignUp.com. Plus, every volunteer registered will also receive a free custom designed buff by Wolf Tooth after their first volunteer shift! How cool! Be sure to thank Wolf Tooth.

SIGN UP OPENS AUG 17

Tip: As a course marshal or a crossing guard, you are able to get right on the race course where there is exceptional viewing of the course!

RACE DAY COMMUNICATION CHANNELS

The following communication channels will provide critical race information before, during and after a race. Be sure to review the various options and find the channel or channels which will help keep you up to date for each race day.

MN League Website
For each race, find deadlines, a full race day schedule, a trail map, directions to the venue, and parking information. The race page (race flyer) for each race covers the what, where, when, and how. Be sure to review this page thoroughly. www.minnesotamtb.org/events

Email Newsletters
If you are signed up for the Single Track Times, you will also receive a special edition newsletter, called Race Day News. This newsletter is sent out the Tuesday before each race and provides critical details and updates. In addition, the email will have a race report summarizing the prior weekend's race and results. Sign up today!

Facebook
We use our Facebook page to communicate any immediate non-emergency news, as well photos and videos of your favorite racers. Like our page!

Race Day Information Kiosk
New this year, we will provide an information kiosk near the MN League registration trailer. Stop by to check on the race day schedule, tent assignments, and race results.

Rained Out App
To sign up: Text MNMTBLEAGUE to 84483. The MN League will use this service to send alerts regarding the following conditions:
1. Race delay

It's Your Race App
Follow your favorite racer by seeing their lap splits as well as race position. Download the app from the Apple App Store.

FM Simulcast
Thanks to the efforts of Armstrong High School Cycling Coach Greg Rierson. Once again we will be live broadcasting each race on FM radio. Bring a portable FM receiver to keep up with the racing action and hear announcements when you are out of range of the PA system. Exact frequencies will be announced at each venue. Thank you Greg!

MN LEAGUE WEATHER POLICY
In the event of challenging weather, review our Weather Policy and Guidelines.

Our primary consideration is the safety of racers, race support staff, race visitors, and potential damage to the race course site.

Any decisions regarding cancellation or altering race start times, lap lengths, or number of laps, etc. will be made jointly by the MN League Director, the Land Manager, and the MN League Chief Referee. Often, this decision cannot be made until the morning of the race due to the unpredictable nature of wet or stormy weather.

The MN League will make every attempt to notify people via two of our race communication channels: Rained Out text app, PA Announcements at the race and on Facebook and Twitter.

Review the MN League weather policy and guidelines.

CALL-UP PROCEDURE

TWO RULE CHANGES FOR CALL-UPS

This off-season a group of parents, coaches, and student-athletes convened to discuss the call-up procedures used by the MN League.

The outcome is a rule that attempts to have a call-up as close to a student’s finish position as possible and does not penalize a student’s call-up position if they miss a race, and provides a safety net if a student has a bad race.

Refer to the new call-up rules in the 2019 Rulebook

Review a summary of the rule changes.

▪ Rule 6.13 Call-Ups
▪ Rule 6.14 First Race Call-Ups
Rule 6.13 Call-Ups
Rule 6.14 First Race Call-Ups

Thank you to the call-up focus group for their hard work to outline a new call-up procedure for the MN League.

Jordan Feierabend (Horner) MN League Alumni

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Jordan Feierabend, Burnsville Alumni

Recent news from the Free Press in Mankato, featured one of our alumni - who is back helping out the Mankato team as one of their coaches! Welcome back Jordan!

"Jordan Feierabend (Horner), now a therapeutic recreation major at Minnesota State University, was one of the first cyclists to join the league in its infancy as a student at Burnsville Senior High School.

Feierabend was active in cross country running and skiing but had long hoped the growing mountain biking sport would come to her community. As part of an avid cycling family, her dad came home one day in 2012 with good news: A league was starting in Minnesota. After joining, she realized cycling brought forth a camaraderie missing on her cross country team.

“In high school if you can run fast you have a certain group of friends, but with biking it doesn’t matter,” Feierabend said. “You can be the top and riding with the slowest people on the team. Everyone gets along; it doesn’t matter who is who. When it comes race time, you get competitive, but afterward it’s all fist bumps and shaking hands.”

Now as a coach for the Mankato team, she’s been able to teach some of the pointers she learned when she competed in high school."
