The Bubblegum Dress!

Sew Along

During the Bubblegum Sew Along we hosted this month at the Candy Castle Patterns Group, I made three Bubblegum Dresses, of which this one must be my favorite! It's size 0-3m, and because I had some leftover scraps of that adorable manatee & polar bear fabric, I used those to make a matching hat using our Baby Collection.
If you're not sure what a Sew Along is, you can read more here.

The Bubblegum Dress is still my favorite pattern to date. The versatility and the fact it can be made out knit and woven and with or without bias tape makes it so fun to sew! This beautiful floral knit had been waiting for the perfect project for so long.
I made this one for my little Nora - if you like, you can find many more pictures of the Bubblegum Dress here!

Latest Release

I hope you didn't miss the release of the Lady Pumpkin Pie Poncho!!

It's a perfect match with the kids' Pumpkin Pie Poncho - perfect for transitioning into warmer or cooler weather!

Laura Hardy sent in this beautiful Swirl Dress with absolutely stunning shades. She said:
"My little granddaughter loves all things rainbow, and requested a rainbow dress. I originally saw the Peppermint Swirl Dress on Pinterest and bought the pattern. The fabric is 100% quilter’s cotton, and I chose to use 14 different colors for the swirls in the skirt. I used 5 different colored snaps for the back bodice closure. The pattern is very well written and clear. [..] I used narrow, double-fold bias tape for the hem. Once I got started, however, it was not hard, just a little time-consuming. It has been a very fun project to sew, and I hope she wears and loves her dress often!

Joanne Castillo made a beautiful birthday dress using the Peppermint Swirl dress. The bodice is perfect for embroidery. She looks like a real princess!

Mandy Swiger used the Marshmallow Dress but hacked it into a maxi. She used the Maxi Ruffle Dress option (view C) and added the two lengths of the skirt portions together so she could eliminate the ruffle. She used the full width of the fabric and it turned into this dreamy maxi dress!

Frozen Dress

Tamilla sent me a picture of her beautiful Frozen-inspired Peppermint Swirl Dress. She told us:
"I made the dress for my cousins daughter. She is turning two and absolutely LOVES frozen. She talks about the characters in her sleep!

_I am part of the Australian Sewing Advice and Inspiration Page on Facebook, and had seen a few people posting their versions of the dress. Loved everyones different ideas! And knew I wanted to give it a go. _

The pattern was really comprehensive and very easy to follow. Really good step by step photos. The dress is so much fun to make, especially the skirt!"

Peppermint Swirl Dress

Elise Fournier sent us this picture!
She told us: "I absolutely loved this pattern from the moment I saw it and I knew my little girl needed a Peppermint Swirl dress as soon as possible! I will admit, the dress looks intimidating at first but once you actually start, you quickly realize how simple the pattern is to follow and how clear the instructions are! There are so many options available and possibilities with this pattern, so in the end, your imagination is truly the limit! The dress I made for my daughter Riley's birthday came out better than I ever could have imagined. I live on an Island and there is only one fabric store so thankfully I was able to find something that would work well for this pattern. Riley looked absolutely adorable in her dress and loved spinning in circles while wearing it! I see many more Peppermint Swirl Dresses in her future."

PDF Layers!

Last month, we've started updating our older patterns to now include layers.
PDF Layers allow you to turn on and off pattern pieces, grouped per size. This way, you can choose to print one or more sizes you want to print, instead of having to print them all by default. You can read more here.

The following patterns have been updated so far:
1. The Butterscotch Bloomers
2. The Pumpkin Pie Poncho
3. The Marshmallow Dress
4. The Cotton Candy Baby Pants

We aim to have updated all our patterns to include layers this year, and of course, all our new releases will include layers too.

I hope you got tons of sewing inspiration; let's get creative!
