Province Wide Fundraiser

2017-12-15 13 33 26-Canadian Olympic Foundation - CCBC Club Fundraiser - CanadaHelps

Our club is participating in a province-wide fundraiser for cross country ski clubs. Donations to our club will be used to improve our club. In addition, Cross Country BC is canvassing some big anonymous provincial donors to donate to ALL participating clubs. The more we raise the more donors will donate to our club.

Help our club raise funds! Donations are tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt. Contribute by December 31st and the tax receipt is good for 2017's tax return.

We can use the funds for sport development, such as skier development programs, trails & facilities, and grooming equipment. Although funds may not be earmarked for an individual athlete, funds can be used towards a coach or coordinator’s stipend or wage.

Thank you for your interest and generosity. Let’s see what our club can do! Click here to donate.

Local Cross Country Ski Racers Sweep Podium at First Race of Season

1 Finish Line Coast Cup 1 Dec 2017

The reward!

The Strathcona Nordics Junior Race Team competed on December 3rd at the season opener Coast Cup #1 Race at Callahagn Valley, near Whistler. An impressive number of top ten finishes saw the athletes bringing home lots of medals: three golds, 3 silvers and a bronze. Fresh snow and sunny skies made conditions perfect for the racers, aged 10 to 15, who were all excited to be back on snow. The wax team had a straightforward weekend, ironing out the kinks for the upcoming race season.

Last weekend, December 9 and 10th, Strathcona Nordic racers enjoyed two days of races in Vernon at the Haywood NorAm/US Super Tour Series, a cross-country ski race which attracts competitive athletes from across the continent. Our racers did extremely well, especially considering their on snow training sessions have been few, compared to other clubs who have been training on snow since October. “Our athletes efforts at dryland training, team building and pre-race preparation have been excellent, and are now paying off” remarked assistant coach Brad Fraser. Strathcona Nordic Ski Club Van Project.

PB030518

This past spring the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club was able to purchase a 15 passenger van. This was made possible through the generous support of the following community sponsors.
Dr. Andreas Conradi - Ocean View Oral Surgery - Gold Sponsor
Dr. Teri Norfolk - Downstream Dental - Silver Sponsor
Rupert Wong - Current Environmental - Bronze Sponsor
Dr. Paul Helpard - Shoreline Orthodontics - Bronze Sponsor
Chris Nagle - Investors Group - Bronze Sponsor

The van will be used for transportation of athletes to training sessions and to races throughout B.C. and Alberta.

The purchase of the van will lead to cost savings in ferry and fuel costs, reduce the environmental footprint and add to the overall safety.

Thank you to our club president, Berend Henckel for spearheading this project and all of our sponsors for their support.
