Celebrating Creativity and Community

Emerging artists from Wellesley High School

We begin our 50th anniversary year with our annual showcase of artwork by the students of Wellesley High School's Ceramics Intensive and Metals Intensive classes. The showcase debuts three mobiles that the metals students were commissioned to design and fabricate for a Wellesley High School hallway.

Students in Shayla Vines' Jewelry and Metals Intensive class were commissioned to design and fabricate three large site-specific mobiles for a Wellesley High School hallway. Clever Hand is excited to display these pieces before they are permanently installed in the school.

Amie Larson, who teaches the Ceramics Intensive class at Wellesley High School, asked her 13 students to make vessels utilizing the techniques of piercing or texturing, or were wheel-thrown. Combining the techniques of throwing on a wheel and adding coils allows students to make taller pieces than they would otherwise.

The student work will be on display in our window through April 15.
