Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"God is so good. The leaves here in NE Ohio are spectacular! I do believe the colors get more vivid every year. Experience God’s beauty – it is everywhere we look. Let us take nothing for granted. His beauty abounds. And we are all part of that beauty. Grasp on to the scripture I shared. If that doesn’t show us how beautiful and special, we all are!"

"My WORD for this week is “BELONG.” Seems like so many of us sometimes feel like we don’t “belong.” We are struggling to find our purpose in life. Sometimes the older generation feel like they should just stay home and let someone else do it because they feel like they don’t “belong.” Well, let me tell us all – we “belong” to the All-Mighty God. We are His and He is ours. We are children of the Most High God. We “belong” in a relationship with Jesus. He will transform our thinking into His thinking and His love. Not only do we “belong” to God, but our talents also that He gave us “belong” to Him. He wants our time to “belong” to Him. We are never alone because we have the Holy Spirit to be our guide. He loves us so much! He wants only the best for us. The enemy is not in charge of us – we do not “belong” to him. We are riding on eagle’s wings – soaring to new heights in Jesus. Let us step into our place in Him. Right where we all “belong,” resting in the sweet presence of our Savior. Praying we all rise to our rightful place in Him! We all “belong.”

But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end - Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.”_ ~ Isaiah 43:1-4 (MSG)

2nd Annual Apple Butter Day

Saturday, October 22, 9:30am to 7pm(ish)
Participants will be able to take some home and Goodness Grows will use the rest for fundraising again. ($5 per jar.) YOU are enthusiastically invited to join in anytime throughout the day to help! There will be a volunteer list to sign in on so that we can be sure you get your free jar, one per family.

How Can You Help With Apple Butter Day?

If you would like to donate supplies, we can use any variety of clean apples. We'll end up going through at least 5 bushels. As of now, we know we have 3-4 bushels coming. We also are in need of the standard canning jar rings and lids. We can use either the one piece lids or the lid/ring combo. Please drop all donations off on the GG table in the Great Room by THIS Wednesday. Thank you!

If you would like to volunteer, you will be most welcome! We will need kitchen helpers NEXT Thursday, October 20 & Friday, October 21, between 9:30am-2pm. (Our crew stops for lunch from 11:30am-12pm.) We will be peeling and cutting apples both days and making applesauce on Friday. Then, we will need plenty of hands on Apple Butter Day to help with the myriad of tasks that need to be done to end up with those beautiful jars of this seasonal treat! How can you get involved?!?!

This week has been all about two jobs - readying the various gardens/fields/beds for winter and working in the warehouse. It has certainly kept us very busy. We've pulled out plants and sorted clothes, worked with silage tarps and made Giveaway signs, and so much more!

This past weekend was also rather busy. Rachel and Dustin worked at Harbel's and then a number of our crew attended the H&H Fall Harvest Special Needs Ball, held at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. A grand time was had by all!

Goodness Grows

The non-profit ministry of CGCC, Goodness Grows

training in a fun, hands-on way. The GG crew maintains
the grounds and cleans the building.

Volunteers are always welcome at GG. Stop in anytime or schedule a visit. You can help with whatever job we are tackling, share a hobby or craft, teach a skill, offer to sort in the warehouse, or pull weeds outside. Whatever time and ability you have to offer will be most appreciated!

If you would like to donate, monetary donations as well as donations of regular mouth canning jars (8oz., new or used), lids and rings, and sugar are always needed! With the way prices are increasing on pretty much everything, your donations are needed now more than ever. Thank you!

Egg Boxes Needed

H&H is looking for egg boxes to use as Christmas food boxes. Last year, they came from Sparkle (Columbiana & East Palestine). With at least doubling, maybe tripling the number of food boxes, any we can collect would help! These are large boxes with handles that make loading and unloading easier and safer. If you have any of these boxes to donate, or if you would be willing to stop into or call other grocery stores and ask for them, that would be greatly appreciated. Egg boxes can be dropped off anytime in the Great Room!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
