Online Worship Dates Revised

For the health and safety of our community of faith, the church council has made the decision to offer online worship temporarily instead of gathering physically on Sunday mornings in the church building. At this time, worship will be offered online through June 30th. The council will continue to monitor the situation and re-evaluate as is prudent.

7th Sunday of Easter

The Gospel for this Sunday:

John 17:1-11

Seek Unity

In these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we gather with the disciples in the upper room, waiting for the Spirit to transform the church around the world. In today’s gospel Jesus prays for his followers and for their mission in his name. Amid religious, social, and economic divisions, we seek the unity that Jesus had with his Father. Made one in baptism, we go forth to live our faith in the world, eager for the unity that God intends for the whole human family.

Moving Forward: Deciding Our Future Ministry

hands-1273148 1920

Even though we're unable to gather together in worship, fellowship, council, or missions, we continue on our journey together. That includes the ministry evaluation task force and their report to council and the congregation. We are also planning to try some new ways to connect with you and continue moving forward. The council has been meeting virtually via zoom, where we can see each other and talk with each other. Those without a computer or i-pad to connect via video, can also call into the meeting. Here are upcoming meetings:

Sunday, May 31 from 11 to Noon

The congregation is encouraged to attend via Zoom this Informal Ministry Evaluation Task Force report to the congregation (both to hear from the task force, as well as to help people connect via zoom)

Sunday, June 7 - Congregational Meeting

The congregation will consider the recommendations from the task force on future ministry and related staffing, as well as the recommendation from council for members of the call committee. While we hold out hope that at least some of us can gather in person for this meeting in June, we'll plan it for at least some, if not all of us, to attend virtually via zoom.

We look forward to connecting with you in the coming weeks as we consider our future direction in ministry together. We hope you are staying healthy, and praying for each other and our ministry together.

Yours in Christ, on behalf of the Church Council,
Jim St. Vincent

Spring Clean Up Challenges

gardentools

We can't gather as a group to clean up the LELC grounds, but we can come individually. Drop by the church and do a little bit of yard clean up when you can. Please follow Social Distancing protocol. If someone else is at LELC working in the yard, please plan to come back another time.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own yard tools since there won't be anyone at the church to give access to the church's yard tools. There will be a tarp on top of the blue sand barrel by the Hegg Ave. entrance, so the yard waste can be dragged over to the curb on Hegg Ave. for the city to pick up. Thanks. Jeff

Chalk: An Outside Experience

welcome-3363658 1920

“Chalk” a pretty picture on our church’s sidewalk on Monona Drive. Express something good and kind and beautiful. Give the “walkers” something to smile about. (You’ll find chalk in a bin behind the three tall bushes by the library window.) Invite some other parishioner to meet you there. Safe distance. Chat while drawing.

Thank You for Personal Care Kit Donations!

personal-care-kit

Thanks to everyone who donated towards Personal Care Kits at the first ever Lake Edge drive-through collection on May 16. It was a socially distanced good time for members of the Peace and Justice Commission along with Joan Martin, who has spearheaded this project for many years. We collected 11 towels, 24 tooth brushes, 23 nail clippers, 29 combs, 106 bars of soap, and a generous check donation. That is fantastic! As we struggle with and through the pandemic, God’s blessings continue. Love Wins.
