A Note From Mr. Sandefur

Lion Family,

First and foremost, I would like to thank all of our families who informed us of their intent for the upcoming school year. We are truly blessed to announce that three grade levels are already at capacity, with several others approaching capacity. As we move forward in planning for next year, we remain committed to providing excellent biblically-based education to develop servant leaders who will impact the world for Christ. I appreciate your prayers as our team begins the process of planning and discernment in earnest.

One passage of scripture that has resonated during this season has been the parable of the sower, found in Matthew 13. Our heart desires to ensure that the soil of TKA is “good,” resulting in the ability for the Lord’s Word to take root and produce fruit. As we evaluate all that we do, our team continues to look at ways that our culture can embrace our calling to develop servant leaders. Over the next several months, our families will learn of ways that we can continue to grow in this effort.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the upcoming Love Gala this Saturday evening. I want to thank our PTF for hosting this event to love on our students, faculty, and facilities. I hope that you will join us and thank you in advance for your faithful support.

In Christ Alone,

Jeremy Sandefur

Forged Flyer

Save The Date

TKA will be hosting the “Forged Parent Conference” on March 5th in Woody Auditorium. “Forged” will be a morning of biblically-based parenting seminars focused on encouraging parents that are raising students in a post-Christian society. We are blessed to have local ministers from our community coming to share on topics involving discipleship, maneuvering technology in today’s digital society, and student identity in an ever-changing environment. This event is free and will be a great opportunity to link arms with other parents as we focus on what the Bible says about the roles and responsibilities associated with raising children. Join us from 9:00 – 12:00 on Saturday, March 5th for “Forged!”

Elementary Super Reader Week

We are excited to share with you about our 1st Annual Super Reader Week! Super Reader Week will take place February 28-March 4th. This week coincides with Read Across America Week highlighting Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We have planned a fun filled week highlighting the great importance of reading.

Super Reader Week will include a Dr. Seuss' environment throughout the elementary with decorated doors and hallways, Dr. Seuss Dress Up Days, a special reading time with a Super Reader during library class, special Dr. Seuss activities, and a Reading Celebration Day.

Dr. Seuss Dress Up Days include:
* Monday: Fox in Socks- Crazy Sock Day
* Tuesday: Green Eggs and Ham- Wear Green
* Wednesday: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday- Favorite Dr. Seuss Character
* Thursday: Cat in the Hat- Favorite Hat Day
* Friday: Oh, the Places You’ll Go- Favorite college team/jersey

Reading is the most precious gift and skill anyone can receive and learn. There are so many benefits of reading. We understand the great importance that reading provides to children in the early years. Before children learn to read, the benefits of parents reading to their children are phenomenal. Research shows that children who are read to at early ages have greater cognitive and language development, better listening skills, expanded vocabulary, greater attention span, and deeper creativity. Starting early cultivates a lifelong love of reading along with preparing them for academic success. My encouragement to all parents is to never take the special 20 minute reading time each night for granted. It is not only a special bonding moment with your child, but it is strengthening your child in so many beneficial ways for a successful academic future.

It is a joy to be a part of a school that takes great pride in developing strong readers. We are beyond blessed to share our love for reading with your child(ren) every day. We are looking forward to a super fun week celebrating our little lion readers.
