USPS postage rates rise

June 1, 2015 - Postage rates increase today for both domestic and international mail. Most notably for CardShark users are increases in the costs of First-Class Mail Parcels, which is the class of mailing recommended for most card orders. In some cases, these rates have gone up close to 10%. This means shipping costs and seller reimbursements for postage on the site have increased all around.

Sellers, you may want to look at services like USPS click and ship and stamps.com, which provide some discounts on postage.

Free Tracking

Probably the biggest change comes in USPS Tracking services. Tracking is now included in the price of First-Class Mail Parcels. Mail used to qualify for the Parcel rate if it was over 1/4" thick, but now thinner packages also qualify - they just need to be a minimum of 5" in length and 3-1/2" in height. This great news brings two important changes you need to know about:

▪ Sellers are now asked to put tracking on all domestic orders. It is FREE and can be purchased and printed at home, so there is really no reason not to. Please use this service. While it isn't mandatory yet, there will come a time when it is required.
▪ Buyers, tracking is no longer an option for purchase on CardShark domestic orders. It is expected that your seller will put the free tracking on your package.

A note for international users

Tracking is now available for no extra charge to a few countries outside the USA. Because of the number of international orders that seem to go missing every year, we strongly encourage sellers to get a tracking number for shipments to these countries and forward it to their buyer. Please review section 252.22, Availability for a list of locations, which includes Canada.
