Well, the Goodness Grows crew has fixed that! It has bothered them that there were no sand toys available to the kids for good, old-fashioned imaginative play...so they took a good, old-fashioned shopping trip! Now we have a bucket of fun awaiting our first sand explorers who want to go for a dig. Hopefully there will be many happy memories made out in the church playground. Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "What a week it has been here in Ohio – the heavens finally opened and we have rain. Thank our heavenly father! My garden and flowers have been singing! You can “almost” see the smiles, they are shining. Our green should be returning soon. Happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all the fathers that may read this. I sure do miss my dad. He was the best. Cherish your time with others you love – you never know when it will be gone. Okay, didn’t mean to get all teary eyed – let’s get into the encouragement part." "My WORD for this week is “PEACE” – can you use some? I sure can. Sometimes we can get caught up in so much drama and before we know it, we forget to listen for the Holy Spirit to guide us. He knows everything about everything. He is our Comforter – our promise. I was reading the story of Jehoshaphat in the Bible. I encourage you to read 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. It will teach us to listen to the Holy Spirit and let Him guide us instead of listening to everything and everyone else. You would think we would learn by now but not me – I need to be reminded over and over. God will keep us in perfect “peace” if our minds are on Him. Perfect “peace” sounds great, doesn’t it? Now, that does not mean there won’t be situations that arise and try to trip us up or throw us off – but greater is He that is in us – than he that is in the world. The enemy was trying to get me down and out this week after a great weekend – and he almost succeeded – then I got quiet and listened – the Holy Spirit ministered to my heart. He gave me peace – sweet peace and I am so thankful. If we want “peace” within – we need to get quiet and listen – the Holy Spirit will tell us what we need to hear – when we need to hear it – and only what we need to hear. An old song from church goes “Peace, peace, wonderful peace – coming down from the Father above, sweep over my spirit forever I pray, in fathomless billows of love.” That is what I pray for you all this week – “Peace” in fathomless billows of love." When the surrounding kingdoms got word that God had fought Israel’s enemies, the fear of God descended on them. Jehoshaphat heard no more from them; as long as Jehoshaphat reigned, peace reigned. ~ 2 Chronicles 20:29-30 (MSG) ~~~ | Blessing Box Located by the Sanctuary doors, the Blessing Box is always available. On Monday, the crew did some cleaning and then went shopping for supplies and for sand toys to donate to the church playground. On Tuesday, we took a trip to visit former GG intern Kelly Shannon, who is now the manager at an amazing, gorgeous cafe - Grande Café & Roastery! (Congratulations, Kelly!) Everyone enjoyed the visit and the very delcicious lunch! It was inspiring to see how much goodness Kelly is growing up in Medina! Wednesday was a back-to-normal day, full of jam making, weeding, and watering. We are definitely never without tasks to do around here! At the end of the day, we were surprised and pleased to have a visit from one of the fabulous actors from Squeaky Wheel Theater's production of Beauty and the Beast - none other than Cogsworth himself! He came out hoping for a visit with his GG theater friends. We sure do love having visitors stop in here! Take a look below to see what jams we currently have available. bottled water, small bags of chips, and hotdog buns much appreciated. Thank you to those who have donated! ~~~ | | Point 5k Fundraiser for the Rescue Mission | The 2023 Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley Point 5k will take place at White House Fruit Farm on Saturday, July 8th, 2023! Lots of fun. Family-friendly. A great time on the farm! Just like each year, it’s not a 5k…. it’s a POINT 5k, which means you’ll be walking just 1,640 feet start to finish! And what would a trip to White House be without a donut. So to keep up your strength so you can cross the finish line strong, we will have a donut stop at the 1/2 way mark.
