Sunday's Service - September 20, 2020

In-Person & Online @ 11am

Worship will take place out front at the raised bed garden - weather permitting.

The featured Scripture is: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
for Mike's message: In Christ: We are Reconciled.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (NIV)

Jesus came to be our defense against the accuser, Satan, and renders us guiltless. We may be feeling guilty but the Bible says, if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and cleans us from all unrighteousness. It is the gift of God by His grace to grant to those who seek Him and ask Him into their life. All of God's redemptive grace is given to those who ask of Him to be their Lord. Join me this week as we learn how we are reconciled IN CHRIST. - Pastor Mike

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Wednesday ~ How do you handle your anger? Often, we do not handle anger well. Thankfully, God is always there to help us in our anger. Enjoy today's lesson and we pray this helps you know God and His love for you more!

Scripture says, “When you are angry, do not sin.” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. ~ Ephesians 4:26 (NIRV)

Join Collide Crew Leader Danielle and spend 25 minutes together singing, dancing, laughing, and learning! We would love for you to also have your child(ren) memorize this week's scripture verse and motions and upload a video of them in the comment section under the video on the CLC Facebook page! Have a great week, Collide Kids!

Youth Group 2020-2021

Youth Group Returns ~ Sunday, September 20, 6-7pm

This Sunday will be our first Youth Group meeting of the fall. We are not sure how long we will be able to meet, but we do want to give it a try and see how it goes! So much has changed this year, so we hope to give our young people a little spot of "normal" in an ever-changing, high pressure world. As long as the weather cooperates, we can meet outside to help with social distancing. Masks will be mandatory indoors and outside when distance isn't possible. Please make a note of our other changes - no snack, stay home if not feeling 100%, and meeting from 6-7pm only.

Youth Group may be canceled at any time, depending on conditions at church and in our area. In the event of a cancelation, we will put the info on Facebook and send out a text. We hope that if we all work together and take care of each other, we can have a fantastic year delving into the Word, having fun, helping others, and growing together!

Youth Group is open to kids in 5th through 12th grade ~ Sundays, 6-7pm
We meet upstairs in the Activity Room, so please enter through upper door.

Parents, we have a YG permission waiver we need you to fill out next time you're here.

Youth Group Memory Verse:

Congratulations to Connecting Life Church!

Connecting Life Church celebrates 2 years of ministry!!!
September 9th marked the two year Anniversary since launching as a Church Community! We praise God for His faithfulness thus far and pray for many more years of ministry as we stay faithful to His call.

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you. Please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Darla Smith for writing and Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us.

Great is His faithfulness to us each and every day! I am getting excited for Fall to be here. My favorite time with the cool crisp mornings and evenings. Probably not all of you would agree with me on that one. I pray you are all doing simply fabulous!

The Word God gave me this week is IMAGE. There were a lot of things that went through my mind on this one word alone. What image are we representing during our day? God created us in His IMAGE. Think about that for a minute. The Savior of the universe made us in His IMAGE. We were loved in heaven before we were known on earth. We are not defined by the pounds we weigh, the car we drive, the likes we get on Facebook, the house we live in, the job title we hold - these are endless. We are made in God's IMAGE. We are a diamond, a rose, a jewel purchased by the blood of Jesus. Everyone we see was created by God to bear His IMAGE, and so deserves to always be treated with God's love. What IMAGE are we representing again? When we are around others they should see God's IMAGE in us. Let the Holy Spirit check us every day to represent God's IMAGE.

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord - who is the Spirit - makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
2 Corinthians 3:18

News About the Coat & Clothing Giveaway ~ October 17

Due to the pandemic, we have had to make some changes to this annual event. First, please note that the date has changed, moving one week later, to the third Saturday of October. The time, 10am-1pm, remains the same. We will not be offering drinks, cookies, or crafts this year, in order to keep visits shorter. Additionally, we will follow the health and safety guidelines - masks are required, stay home if feeling unwell, observe social distancing, hand sanitizer available, etc. We will ask attendees to limit the number of folks they bring with them as well as the time they spend browsing. These changes will help us to serve the most people in the safest way possible. If you would like to volunteer to help, we would love to have you! Let us know.

Anyone in need is invited to come select items they could use - no income information or proof of residence required. In addition to outerwear, there will be all sorts of clothing and a variety of other items available - bags, purses, shoes, baby clothes, blankets, miscellaneous household items, etc. - all donated by members of the congregation as well as community members from all over the area. (We are still accepting donations.) Please share this information and help us get the word out to as many people as possible. Thank you for your support as we endeavor to reach out to folks in our community!

News of the Week

The weather cooperated this week and we were able to spend a lot of time outside on our never ending battle against weeds. We marvel at how fast those bits of green grow! Along with our outside work, we had time for fun. We enjoyed time with butterflies, a toad, a snake, and a wide array of insects. These discoveries make our days very interesting.

Our other huge project this week was making homemade spaghetti sauce, following Rachel's family recipe. We were able to pack it full of GG's own fresh picked tomatoes, peppers, and celery. Our CSA subscribers will receive a jar today and we had enough for all of our GG family to take home a jar too! Thanks, Rachel!

We had a bountiful harvest today, which will be the last one for our Bi-Weekly subscribers. Next week will be the final pick-up for our Weekly folks. If you have any thoughts about CSA 2021, let us know.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

you were doing it to me.
