Letter From
Wayne Marshall
2020 High Plains Emmaus
Community Lay Director
They said to him "Sir give us this bread always." Jesus said to them "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
(John 6:34-40)
2020 was a year like no other, a year of change, and uncertainty in our community, state, country and the world. This is the time to keep our eyes on the One who is the bread of life. Jesus would not have us fret over the current events, socially or politically. He remains the one that satisfies our hunger and quenches our thirst unto everlasting life.
I'd like thank you to Central Christian Church, Portales for hosting our community meeting in January. I would also like to thank our fourth day speaker, Mary Lou Kropp who gave us an inspiring fourth day talk about faith, hope and getting through the storm. Thank you to the music team of Gaby and Ayden for providing music in worship to our Lord.
As your 2021 Community Lay Director, I would like to encourage you to continue to connect with High Plains Emmaus. If you are reading this letter and you have not been to a community meeting in sometime, please consider reconnect with us in fellowship. You are an important part of who we are in Christ and a vital part of the Body in the earth. Although Emmaus is not your church it is part of the story of you and Jesus
Please pray about how you would support High Plains Emmaus, through attending monthly meetings and giving financially. More than ever, High plains Emmaus needs your participation and financial support.
Currently there are two walks planned for this coming summer: Women's Walk #54 in June and Men's Walk #39 in July. The board will be meeting in February to talk about these walks and decisions concerning the current pandemic and how it might affect the walks.
Our next community will take place on February 2 at First United Methodist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. The Board will meet at 5:30 PM and Community will begin at 7:00 PM. Please plan on attending, I know you will enjoy the fellowship, the fourth day talk, and Communion. I believe this is a time for us to come together in the Emmaus community as one in the Body of Christ, to pray, to encourage one another and to receive what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has for each of us.
De Colores!
