 | "Darkness - My Old Friend" This time of year we move more and more into the darkness until the Winter Solstice on December 21. This year we hope you will join us for a Winter Light Celebration. We slow down in the dark. We feel our way in the dark. We are often afraid of the dark. The dark is also healing. It is a place to rest. It is the first present part of EVERYTHING. (Even in the Genesis story of creation light came after darkenss and water) The seemingly nothingless of dark allows for stillness, feeling, and deep healing. "It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more" - Dumbledore In the time leading up to Winter Light and the overlapping Holiday Seasons we will explore this realm of healing with darkness and stillness, of showing up in the dark places and our own shadow work. We recognize darkness as half of a great whole. Light and Dark. It is always in balance. We are Human and Divine. We are Energy and Particle. We ARE. The soul still sings in the darkness telling of the beauty she found there; and daring us not to think that because she passed through such tortures of anguish, doubt, dread, and horror, as has been said, she ran any the more danger of being lost in the night. Nay, in the darkness did she, rather, find herself.
