Glass Half Empty
By Jan Landis
When people talk about a company, they often talk about the face of a company, or who you think of when you think about a company. That made me think about Vynecrest and who is the face of Vynecrest Winery. If you look at our bottles, you might say that the face of Vynecrest is Maizey who’s picture appears on four Vynecrest labels. We’ve always been a “hand-on” owner family at Vynecrest and a great many of our customers know us. We’re almost always around somewhere-- John does the winemaker tours , Jan works in the Vyneskeller , Ky is in the wine cellar making wine and at all of our festivals, and Sam is everywhere. Dana, our Tasting Room Manager, is very much a hands-on presence almost daily. Fridays you will always see Janine and most of you know Michelle either from Kutztown or the Vyneskeller. And there is Jim, our very knowledgeable Tasting Room guy. Quite of few of our Tasting Room ladies have been with us for a long time, so that they are known by name by a lot of our customers.
Lately, as we’ve been growing, so has our Tasting Room personnel, and we’ve hired a number of new people. However, I like to think that one thing that is consistent about the Face of Vynecrest is that we are here to help you find a wine that you will really enjoy, and that we really like what we do. It seems like a cliché that we work like one big family, but it’s true. On Saturdays, after 5pm, all of us who have been working that day, will get together at the tasting bar and enjoy a glass of wine and each others’ company. That’s the real face of this winery.
