Arrival and Departure from school

It’s most important to remember that teachers do not commence duties until 8:45am and this is when yard duty supervision commences. This means students should not be arriving at school before 8:45am. Even though many staff arrive before that time, they are busy preparing lessons and resources needed for the day. Likewise at the end of the day, supervision ends at 3:45pm by which time students should have left the school grounds. Students who remain in the school grounds, (without their parents to supervise them) are brought to the office to await the arrival of their parents. We strongly encourage ALL families to register with TheirCare, our out of school hours care at https://theircare.com.au. It will give you peace of mind when you are running late, as you will easily be able to book your child in. Details below

Sunsmart Reminder

A reminder that it is important for our students and staff to be wearing their hats in the yard and wearing SPF 30 sunscreen during these hotter months. Please remember to name ALL school hats with a permanent marker as we find many unnamed hats in our school and have difficulty returning them to their owners. Students need to wear their hats during outdoor PE lessons, recess and lunch times and when on outdoor excursions.

Prep 2024 Parent Information Night

Last Tuesday night Ms Casey Gould, Ms Laura Crothers and myself welcomed our Prep 2024 families and shared information on MVPS and what to expect in Prep. On Friday we had many of our 2024 preppies come and pick up their prep packs. They were all excited to get their very special Prep T-shirt. Our first transition session for Prep 2024 is on Friday 20th October at 9am. More information will be shared about this soon.

Is your family leaving MVPS at the end of the year? 2024 Requests

Are you leaving MVPS at the end of the year? Please let the office know so that we can assist your child with transition processes and to plan our classes for 2024. If you have any requests regarding your child’s placement for 2024, please email the school with your request. Please note that all requests will be strongly considered but cannot always be granted.

Have fun CAMPERS!

Tomorrow our Grade 3-6 students all head off to camp! Our 3/4 students are going to Anglesesa and our Grade 5/6 students are heading to Merricks. Thank you to our teachers, inclusion team members and parent helpers who are attending. We hope everyone has a fabulous time and we are appreciative of all staff and parents who have offered to attend.

The campers will return on Friday 13th October around 3-3:30pm. We look forward to hearing all about your fabulous opportunities to learn new skills and make new friends. We will post updates on Compass.

Spirit Day

On Monday 16th October we will be having our very first MVPS Spirit Day! Students will take part in a range of different activities, which will extend and challenge their thinking, along with a tabloid sports afternoon, led by our Grade 5 and 6 students. To ensure we honor the new teaching agreement and time in lieu for those teachers who attended camp, our consultative committee in conjunction with staff developed Spirit Day. Thank you to our P-2 team and Specialist team for running the day.
