Welcome to Farlie and Don

We're very excited to be welcoming Drs Farlie Lewis and Don Woo to the Prahran team in 2016. Both Farlie and Don bring experience and enthusiasm to their new roles.

Dr Farlie holds a strong interest in internal medicine, she is a skilled clinician who develops an excellent rapport with her clients. When not working Farlie enjoys mountain biking and veterinary volunteer work.

Dr Don has developed interests in surgery and cancer care and he will capably complement and strengthen our current service in these areas. When not at Prahran, Don enjoys spending time with his three dogs, eating, drinking coffee, crossfit, camping and fourwheeldriving.

Both Farlie and Don will be available for appointments at our Prahran hospital, they look forward to meeting all of our fantastic patients and their families.

Dr Theo with Buck, our first patient to visit South Yarra Vet Centre (he couldn't smile, his cheeks were full of liver treats!)

New solutions to a nasty little problem

We’re often told that deadly paralysis ticks don’t trouble pets in Melbourne, by and large this is true. However we’ve seen a couple of cases at Prahran already this summer and urge all pet owners to talk to us about some new and easy to use preventatives.

Click the tick for our blog and some very useful info about this awful arachnid.

A BREAKTHROUGH TEST FOR EARLY DETECTION OF KIDNEY PROBLEMS

A new biomarker called SDMA is now available for pets in Australia and it enables much earlier detection of kidney disease in pets. Identifying disease sooner will potentially gives us more time to intervene and formulate a management protocol for each animal.

Studies in the US suggest chronic kidney disease - one of the most common age-related health problems we encounter - can be detected up to 17 months earlier in cats, and 9 months earlier in dogs with the use of this new test !

For more information, or if you think this test may be of benefit to your pet, please call to discuss with our staff on (03)95101335, or click the link below for more info.
