There was snow a plenty at the recent Teck Regional Spring Snow Camp at Mt Washington on Vancouver Island, May 5-7, 2017. A total of 58 skiers, including Track Attack and Junior racers, Masters and ParaNordic racers, enjoyed a weekend of amazing weather, fantastic conditions (and even some fresh snow) and great camaraderie. Athletes and coaches from Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club and Vancouver Nordic Racers who joined the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club made for a truly regional camp. We were also joined by Jaime Fortier, Olympian, 1998 and 2002 who calls the island home, as well as Strathcona Alum and former national level racer Sarah Peters, visiting all the way from Lappe Nordic Ski Club in Thunder Bay.
Camp highlights includes the ever popular mixed team relays, the best crust skiing ever and the climb to the top of the Boomerang Chair and peak of the mountain. The sun was out and the views to the west coast on one side and the mainland on the other side were stunning.
