Thank you for registering for our Feis weekend, whether it be the Gem City Feis only, the Lindsay Marie Memorial Feis only, or both competitions. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Please remember to come to our NEW LOCATION, Hobart Arena in Troy, OH. All competition details are available on our website: http://www.celticacademy.com/gcf-lmm-feis. You can find driving directions and parking information here. This venue has arena seating so you do not need to bring any camping items – camping will not be allowed on the arena floor where the stages are located, or in the walkways. Hobart Arena is an ice hockey arena, and the ice has been installed for the season. Please make sure to dress in layers and wear warm socks/shoes, as the temperature may be cooler than expected.

Some items to bring to your attention regarding our new venue

Hobart Arena is currently undergoing a renovation. They are adding on to their current building, and construction, like any type of construction project, is behind schedule. The staff at Hobart has been fantastic in addressing our concerns and coming up with solutions to make things as smooth as possible for our event. Here are the limitations we are facing for our event this weekend and we would like to make you aware of these and ask for your patience and understanding.

Restrooms – The new, larger restroom facilities are not completed. Resolution to this issue: The men’s restroom will be changed over to a women’s restroom and the men will be directed to use the port-a-johns outside. We realize this is not the most ideal, but it is the best we can do with the circumstances we are facing.

With the small size of the current restroom facilities, this will give the women 12 stalls between the women’s and men’s restrooms. We recommend you have your dancer wear everything possible so they only have to put their costume on as there are no changing rooms. You will also want to do your
make-up before you arrive, or up in the arena seats as crowding around the restroom mirrors will be impossible to do.

Concession Stands – The concession stands are not completed. Don’t worry, you will not starve….Hobart will have the following available for a small price: bottled soda, iced tea, apple juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, donuts, granola bars, various candy, and various chips.

What about a hot lunch….Bring in the food trucks. Mo’s food truck and Fire Pie Pizza food truck will be outside the main entrance from 11:00am-1:00pm. If this does not suffice, you are more than welcome to drive a few minutes down the road to the fast food options or pack a cooler as they will allow outside food to be brought in. For more information about restaurants in Troy, click here.

Walkway Area Outside the Arena – this area is where the vendors and champ grade awards will be. There will be signs to direct you. It may become tight at times and we will address any issues if this happens. Please obey any construction area signs posted, they are there to protect everyone.

Competition Items

Stage Assignments – Final Stage Assignments are posted on QuickFeis.com. Please note – stages will run continuously and as quickly as we can possibly move the competitions on and off stage. Stages 2 & 3 are partnered together and will share a musician. Stages 4 & 5 are partnered together and will share a musician. Competitions on these stages may be moved back and forth to keep the competitions moving. Dancers are to check in at the original stage the competition is scheduled for.
For example: Comp 108RL is scheduled for stage 2. Dancer checks in at stage 2. Competitors are lined up, but taken to the partner stage to dance. Competition 108RL is actually danced on stage 3. (Parents will not need to move as these stages are next to each other.)

The Gem City Feis stage schedule can be found here. The Lindsay Marie Memorial Feis stage schedule can be found here.

Courtney

Treble Reel Donation – Our Charity Treble Reel Recipient is Courtney Smith. Courtney is one of our Beginner Teaching Assistants at the Celtic Academy and the sister of our dancer and Teaching Assistant Jessica Smith. Courtney recently underwent a liver transplant. She is recovering well and this money will help with the medical bills she has incurred. Courtney is normally one of our stage monitors for the Gem City Feis. Please help us in supporting Courtney by entering our Charity Treble Reel this weekend. The entry fee is $10 and you may enter the morning of the feis without a penalty for this event.

Thank You

Thank you for your participation in our Feis weekend and please be aware the committee and the manager of Hobart Arena have done everything possible to make the best of the situation we are dealing with. We have your utmost safety as our concern as well as running the smoothest competitions we possibly can. Once construction is complete, the facility will be beautiful and have plenty of room for our needs. With any type of change there will be issues that arise, and we will do our best to resolve them as quickly as possible. We are excited for the competitions and we hope you enjoy the unique city of Troy, Ohio.
