Dear Fellow Canadians,

Late last night, Erin O'Toole was named the new leader of Conservative Party.

Firstly, let us say thanks to everyone that got involved in this leadership race. We are deeply grateful for each of you that picked up the power to vote and used it.

Thank you also to those of you who prayed.

Before the vote, our founder and National Director, Faytene Grasseschi, took to Facebook live to give this heartfelt word of wisdom for us at this moment. Please take a moment to watch here.

It was a tight race, with Peter MacKay 33.5%, Erin O'Toole holding 31.6%, Dr. Leslyn Lewis 20.5% and Derek Sloan 14% of the vote after the first round of voting.

After the 3rd round, O'Toole secured the leadership with 57% of the vote. Learn more.

“Today you have given me a clear mission: to unite our party, to champion our conservative principles, to show Canadians what we know so well: that Justin Trudeau and his team are failing our great country,” O’Toole said in his victory speech. Watch his full speech here.

The major story of the night was undoubtedly, Dr. Leslyn Lewis's performance. The family values vote that she, and Derek Sloan, attracted was once again, the game changer. Commentators were pointing out that the base of the Party has sent a clear message, that they do not want a "Liberal Light" party but rather one that holds fast to conservative values both fiscally and socially.

That means many of YOU were the game changers.

In addition, at the point in which she fell off, she actually had more of the popular vote than both Erin O'Toole and Peter MacKay.

This cannot be ignored and is a huge win for all those who resonate with her values and tone of politics.

There is no doubt that Dr. Leslyn Lewis and her supporters have changed the political landscape of the nation because of last night's results. There is also no doubt that she will continue to have a major impact on the Party and the nation going forward.

The most important things we can do now are:

1. Pray for the newly elected leader, The Hon. Erin O'Toole

Also, please take a moment to cover the other leadership candidates, their families and the entire nation in prayer today. Our leaders need wisdom and our nation needs prayer at this time of shaking and massive transition.

2. Commit to be involved for the long haul.

O'Toole is maybe not be a leader that takes on the issues many of us care about by his own personal motivation. It will take an engaged and activated conservative base (us) to continue to influence the future of this party, other parties and the nation.
