A Note From Mr. Sandefur

Lion Family,

We have made it to the conclusion of this school year, and it is hard to believe that we are at this point. I want to personally thank each and every educational partner, as this year has been an incredible success. While we still have a lot that we need to seek improvement on for our stakeholders, this year has been a time of renewal in our classrooms, spiritually and athletically across our campus. Your leadership team is working diligently to pray for exciting days ahead prayerfully.

I hope to be able to share more information with you near the end of the summer and the beginning of the year regarding some exciting projects that are on the horizon. Enrollment has continued to grow throughout the year, and early indicators are that next year is poised to follow that trend. We have also been blessed to have experienced a record year in faithful giving as the sacrifices of some have benefited our entire school community in allowing us to address financial obligations, make strides in new areas, and establish a path for an incredibly healthy future.

At this time, our Communications Department is working on a year in review document that will be emailed to all stakeholders sometime this summer. This review will highlight the year, share important giving information/projects, as well as highlight changes that are coming in the upcoming year. I could not be happier with the direction that we are headed and am thankful for the opportunity to share with you regarding the best that is to come.

I am praying for each of our families that this summer would be a time of renewal and rest. I greatly look forward to seeing you soon and wish each and every one of you a safe and enjoyable summer break!

In Christ Alone,

Jeremy Sandefur

Elementary report from Principal Sullivan

TKA Elementary Families,

It has been a true blessing and honor to serve you and your family this school year. God has been so good to us in so many ways. Your partnership and support is most certainly appreciated and one of our biggest blessings. It is because of your partnership, our phenomenal educators, and hard working students that we have continued to see success in closing the learning gaps along with huge growth in all areas. This is evident with our Summative Standardized IOWA testing results proving TKA Elementary to be one of the top in the nation academically. In elementary, we set a goal to strive for National Blue Ribbon (NBR) Status meaning to be at the top 85% or higher in the nation. We achieved and exceeded the NBR cut scores in many areas throughout elementary. In areas that we didn't quite reach NBR status, we still achieved top recognition in the nation reaching 80th percentile or higher in Reading/Language Arts and Math. This speaks volumes of the level of education being delivered at TKA.

I'm soooo extremely proud of our fabulous teachers and students! Our entire elementary team contributes daily to this success along with your partnership! Our students ROCKED it!

I wanted to share this awesome report with our families prior to summer vacation. Thank you again for the opportunity to love your child, educate your child, but most importantly to share God's truth with your child.

Please enjoy a wonderful summer. We look forward to starting another school year with you in August. May God richly bless you and keep you.

In Christ,
Kelly Sullivan, Elementary Principal

Welcome Back! Miss. Danielle Quesinberry

Danielle Quesinberry is a 2016 graduate of TKA, and she resides in south Knoxville, TN. She graduated from Johnson University with a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in counseling in 2020. Danielle is currently pursuing a M.A. with a dual concentration in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling.

She will be working at TKA as the elementary P.E. teacher, elementary character education teacher, and the high school head varsity volleyball coach. Ms. Danielle is excited to have an opportunity to pour back into the place which shaped her so much in her youth. She is looking forward to all God has in store next school year!

Ways to help with the TKA Kenya Trip

Our team of TKA teachers will be serving the four hundred students of Empukani Primary (Kenya) in June by offering a Vacation Bible School along with teacher training. The focus of the VBS will be “I AM: The Promises of God.”

Many have asked how they could support the efforts of this trip through prayer and giving. The following items are needed and all donations are fully appreciated:

· Vanilla wafers
· Twizzlers
· Goldfish
· Hard candy (not individually wrapped)

· Embroidery floss (red, green, blue, yellow, and orange)
· Clear contact paper
· Colored sharpies
· White handkerchiefs (50 for $20 on Amazon)
· Beads (black, red, green, white, yellow(gold), and blue)
· Pipe cleaners
· Crayons
· Markers
· Colored pencils
· Small sharpeners for colored pencils and crayons

We will have to pack these items and travel with them so we are looking for large sealed packages instead of individually wrapped packages. Ms. Shannon, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Q will be collecting these items in their classrooms; however, items can be dropped off in the High School or Elementary offices as well.

Any and all donations are truly appreciated!
